Im shocked- does he really think he has 5 years in him?

Mitchell Pearce wedding cancelled amid sexting allegations

Newcastle Knights star Mitchell Pearce's wedding has been cancelled after he allegedly sent racy text messages to a young female club employee.

Pearce was due to be married on Tuesday to partner Kristin Scott in Byron Bay, but a report in the Daily Telegraph, which has been confirmed by The Sydney Morning Herald, revealed the wedding has now been called off.

The matter has been reported to Knights management, but no complaints have come from inside the club.

Some of the guests on the list of 150 were informed as late as Christmas Eve that the wedding had been cancelled. A number of big-name players, including Kieran Foran, had been invited to the wedding.
Pearce blamed COVID-19 for the cancellation, telling The Sunday Telegraph the issue was a private matter.

“It’s Covid mate,” he was reported as saying in the News Corp paper. “We’re sorting things out. It’s a really stressful time for us. It’s our business, no-one else’s. We haven’t cancelled, we’ve postponed. I’m filthy about people spreading rumours.”

Knights chief executive Philip Gardner was firm about not engaging with the matter, believing it was a private matter between Pearce and his fiancee.

Pearce is currently in negotiations for a new contract at the Knights, entering his 15th season next year. The 31-year-old recently opened a barre studio in the area with his fiance where he intends to stay.

Pearce is eager to sign onto the club for at least another five years, which would take him through to 36.

"I don't have a time on how long I want to keep playing," Pearce told the Herald earlier this month. "I'm lucky I haven't had too many injuries. Physically I feel good, and mentally I still love turning up. I love competing and trying to push the limits each year.

"Even last season, I didn't miss a training session and didn't miss a game. I've got a lot of good footy ahead of me for a fair few years yet."

Maybe he can hook up with Josh Reynolds' ex. She seems pretty stable.

I can't bring myself to watch it but unfortunately this isn't the first time I've heard of women doing this. Too many fake people out there on social media and genuine people get burned. I'm not a fan of Josh either but I do hope he finds real happiness with his new girlfriend. Everyone deserves someone decent to share their lives with.

From reports today, it looks like the Knights want to offload him.
                    Such a waste of a talent ...
And no, I don’t want him back as he would be toxic for our youngsters and culture.

sums it up, total and utter waste of talent. potential wise had it all , strong, defence, could run, long kicking game, short kicing game needed work, and failed to make good decisions in big games, but jeez it's a pretty good starting point isn't it? instead Pearce will be remembered as a solid , slightly above average first grade player, when really he should have been so much more.

Yes, very sad indeed, but unfortunately he is the master of his destiny so to speak, so it is hard to be sympathetic.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

                          Pretty accurate.

The bottom line is -.from what ive seen M Pearce has severe ADHD & very minimal self control. He does not have (and never has had) what it takes to be in the upper echelon of halves such as Johns, Fittler, Thurston, Cronk, Sterling, Lockyer, Lewis, Kenny etc.

One thing all those blokes had was time, calmness under pressure and composure. It's the secret ingredient, which when mixed with exceptional physical talent makes a top halfback.

Pearce had the physical attributes, but his head ain't right. We saw it all too many times before. He'd rush everything or second guess. Pressure got to him. He wasn't the ideal guy to be game managing. A certainly not the ideal guy to be captaining. A prime comparison would be to contrast him against James Maloney, who I still consider underrated. Maloney, in contrast to Pearce, had the mental attributes to be in the company of the greats in the halves, just didn't have the physicality or consistency.

Pearce should have been bulked up and crafted by his junior coaches into a hooker or a lock from day 1. Not a half.

He had Mason as a role model early in his career and has bumbled from one disaster to the next. We did well to offload him. Should have done it in 2016 on the day after Anzac Day.

I totally agree with what you said except for cocaine lockia. Never rated this clown. Cant stand him.
i had a great one on one chat with pearcie when he was with us , just after doggiegate. He stared without blinking the whole time and yet was calm as. We didnt talk about media articles but more about his future ideas, favourite players goals etc. I like the guy but he needed help earlier in his career now is too late as they are habits.
