What type of training do the players undertake in the pre-season

What type of training do the players undertake during the season i.e in preparation for upcoming games.

When do they train - pre-season and during the season? - morning/arvo or night?

Some clubs flog their players in the pre-season and during the season even - what do the Chooks do ?- In the old days players would go on road runs and run up and down sand hills carrying weights etc.

I seem to recall that's how Gould got his name (Gus) - on a pre-season road run Brohman and him were way at the back (playing with the Dogs i think)- decided to catch a bus to some point in front of the front group of players and finished the road run with leaders - caught out though - i think the Paul Simon song 50 ways to leave your lover - Hop on the Bus, Gus you don't need to discuss much ............... is where the Gus came from?

Dunno but I think conventional coaching wisdom says that you do:
      - Cardio in the off-season... build up fitness and strengthen your muscular endurance so that you can train harder without having lotsa fatigue-related injuries.
      - Progressively build up your weights program so that you're peaking around key points in the season (ideally the finals)

That said times have changed and footy requires a unique mixture of endurance, power and skills. You get guys who can lift a truck over their head and also run around for 80 minutes so go figure. I reckon they'd still stick to this sorta principle but their definition of 'lighter weights', for example, would still be some pretty hectic power lifting.

Not sure exactly what they are doing at the moment usually there is a camp coming up before Xmas or New Year.

But during the year. Say we play on a Saturday they will have recovery on Sunday.
Monday they will do team and individual video probably wrestle and a lite field session in the afternoon.
Tuesday more of the same kick/Catch Wrestle video and a longer afternoon field session.
        Wednesday Day off
Thursday Weights and morning field session
Friday Captains run in the morning usually
        Saturday Play
        Sunday Do it all again

I think they would be doing weights more than once a week.

I would rather be doing weights than wrestle and don't forget Pilates

I am sure our training regime would be world class and probably one of the very best in the league.
                MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

As long as they aren’t walking barefoot on the grass and soaking up all the minerals.

I saw Teddy skulling a cup of raw eggs and then running around Haymarket, the Glebe Foreshore and the Sydney Fish Markets in a grey tracksuit. He then met up with Crichton in Double Bay where they helped tenderise some frozen meat with their knuckles. Robbo followed it up with a motivational speech, while playing Eye of the Tiger in the background.

Not sure which one, but somebody told me Robbo got this training plan from a movie or something. Any inside info?
