  • Keary on rules committee

Nice to see Keary being included on the committee that will consider rule changes. The committee will include Bellamy and Ricky as well the chairman of the ARLC amongst others. Hopefully they can tweak this 6 again rule and make it more transparent as the idea behind it was excellent, however it’s application by some referees was so inconsistent that it tended to favour some teams more than others.
What other rule changes would you like to see? Personally I won’t change many, however if a 6 again is to be given inside your own 20 then it’s should be a penalty kick so you can kick for touch and gain maximum benefit from the breach.

Don't like the 6-again rule at all.
As Cleary said it is too easy to manage a team into the game or manage a team out of the game.

Vlandys is his own man as he has shown in racing and short stint in NRL , he will make his mind up about any new rules. I just hope he punts the Sutton regime from the ref ranks.

Bellamy on the rules committee is like Dracula in charge of the blood bank.

Ban all contact with the head. Some teams, like the Storm get away with grubby facials and forearms to opponents on the ground.

It doesn't matter what rules they change or introduce, until they are policed fairly the game suffers.

I would like the 6 again rule to be taken back out of the game, there was nothing wrong with the way it was.

The six-again re start is not scrutinised.
Ref's like Sutton just give six-again on the fifth tackle when they want their team to score.

Not sure that any current rules will be changed apart for extending what other things the 6 again will be added to.

Need to look at having 2 reserves who can come into the 17 when a player is ruled out of the game through injury or failing the HIA.

Limit the 7 tackles to kicks outside the 20 that go dead etc as who is trying to kick the ball dead from in the 20 on purpose- plus when an attacking player loses the ball in the in goal it should be a 6 tackle 20 metre re-start not 7 tackles

Get rid of golden point for home and away rounds - for finals extra time 10 minutes each way and if still a draw golden point then,

Captains challenge have 2 and for a wider range of decisions - also don't show a replay of an incident so teams can see what happened and then challenge it- cant do that in cricket or look up at the dressing room for assistance either.

Touch judges trained to pick up forward passes as so many are missed as with one ref they don't always see them whereas the touch judges can or should be seeing them -

How on show was it in that second half of the most forgettable GF ive ever maybe not watched this year?

After watching that old school footy the other day, it makes that crap look even more disgarceful.

I would like to see the scrum go back to forwards only in their correct positions, that will be a good start. Also what guys are saying about the 6 again it needs to be tweeked a bit it's to easy to manipulate.

it's the rule now that only forwards can be scrums - not sure if its in their positions though? - not sure why they dont push more in scrums especially when the opposition has the feed - 2010 vs Tigers 1/4 final

The biggest blight on the game is scrums. It’s an embarrassment.

I’d also like to see Golden Point abolished. Let them fight for field goals during the 80 minutes. Otherwise it’s a draw.

And, of course, get rid of Souths. For good this time.

Penalties are too precious now. I’d remove the option to kick for touch. A 20 m piggy back and a whole new set is just too much. Big call, I know!
