  • What position should Joe Suaalii debut at?

Big Joe has arrived at the Chooks. Welcome.

The NRL will likely allow him to play as a 17 year old while still at school. Well done son

If so, where does he fit in?
    First game?
    Wait for an injury? or
Slot him in wherever he is needed?

Wing. Not even a debate IMO.

Get Brett Mozza to spend all season alongside him on the training paddock.

When Bretto inevitably injures himself, little Joe Joe gets his chance.

      2nd rower..

Get him to line up against Kikau or David Fafita so he can stiff arm them into next week before scoring a try on debut to well and truly stamp himself to his already high expectations.

      But in all seriousness... Wing.

Fill in FB when teddy is on reps.

Maybe perm switch if teddy decides he wants to do a Lockyer and transition from top shelf FB to top shelf 6.

Bench is where I'm leaning. So much hype around him but I need to see steady progress (and the i's dotted and t's crossed) for me to even think about him in a starting role.

Initially off the bench and then on the wing. He can replace BMoz on the wing for 2022 if he progresses.

if everyone's fit i wouldn't have him playing game 1. let him get good mins playing canterbury cup. you're not going to get a full season of nrl out of a 17 year old who hasn't played for yonks.
you'd figure wing will be his first position but we persuaded him to come here so we must have told him what our plan is to get the best out of him.

Bears at fullback. Theres plenty of time. He just needs some footy under the belt before going near the deep end.

I thought Manu was the most naturally gifted hooker I have ever seen.

I haven't seen young Joseph play yet but I'm sure he could take hooker and dummy half to the next level....

Nick kouparitisis was far and away the most talented I've ever seen, had it all the step, speed , strength, passing game left or right, kicking game, and defended like a second rower.

on a serious note, Gus said brandy was by the far the most talented he ever coached. and it wasn't close.

Does anyone remember Sam Perrett’s debut in mid 2004 when he pushed Minichiello to the wing?

He was named on the wing but either was swapped late or mid game. There were big raps on Perrett at the time. It was some feat as Mini was the current Aus fullback at the time we were flying and on the way to a third straight grand final.

It may have just been Ricky being tricky or Mini injured but I’m sure it happened

Love the nickname and hope it sticks. I will be using it for sure.

Presumably that's part of the reason he signed too?

                            Coaches and mentors at Easts...
                            - Minichiello
                            - Tedesco
                            - Morris brothers
                            - Robbo, Fitzy, Cronk...etc

                            Coaches and mentors at Souffs
                            - Latrell (new to FB and not great at it)
                            - Gagai (being shopped)
                            - Jimmy the Joke (gone)
                            - JAC (hasn't signed)
                            - GI (gone - medically retired then headed to Stoopa League)
                            - Skeletor (gone - no contingency plan), Burgarse (gone)

                            Chances of playing at Easts...
                            - Pretty good once the Morris brothers retire.

                            Chances of playing at Souffs...
                            - None as they're over-crowded with outside backs and always seem to recruit 1 or 2 more rep grade backs than they need. Likely to be shopped to make cap space as soon as a rep grade winger/centre comes on the market.
                            - If he does play it'll be a a trial by fire, aged 17 at FB because Latrell's struggling with fitness and/or has gone fishin' in Taree.

He will be the best Hooker since Heidi Fleiss
