  • The Roosters 1st Grade lineup 2022 will look as follows

    Changes are afoot.....

    1. Tedesco (c)
    2. Toupo
    3. Manu
    4. ?
    5. Tuipulotu
    6. Keary
    7. Walker
    8. SST
    9. Verrills
    10. Collins
    11. Crichton
    12. ?
    13. Radley

    14. JWH
    15. Sitili
    16. Lam
    17. Liu

    B Morris - retired / Super League

    J Morris - retired / Super League

Billy Smith - unproven, and coming off an ACL. Robbo is quoted as saying if you're under 21 you've got a large chance of doing the other knee inside 2 years. Unless he shows something extraordinary upon return, Billy is far from a sure thing.

Cordner - where there is smoke there is fire. And it's a raging inferno to be frank. His last knock was totally innocuous, and it rattled him big time. I personally think it's a given that he will retire. The only question remaining is if this was his last year, or if next will be.

Friend - will have moved on, probably to Queensland, having a last hurrah before retirement with a big paycheck. I'd bet on Broncos or Titans.

JWH - will be far from a certain fixture every week. He is playing permanently busted really. Will play less minutes from the bench but provide invaluable leadership.

Butcher - I kinda like Butcher. However I struggle to see where he fits in unless he is an 80 minute lock. That is his future and that is his skillset. And with Radley in the team that ain't gonna happen. Not enough impact off the bench. Not enough creativity/line running for the second row. I believe he'll be poached/moved on.

..............A new centre and a new second rower are on the way over the next 12 months. I wonder who they'll be?

I think Billy has already done both knees, so fingers crossed its all behind him.

I can almost guarantee you that Jake won't be moving back to Qld. Hopefully someone talks some sense into Cordner and he retires before the start of next season. Pretty sure Teddy did his ACL as a 19yo without a second injury. Egan Butcher and Fletcher Baker may fill the second row. I'd be reasonably confident that team would win more than they lose.

What about Iku - no room for him anywhere?
          MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

Doesn't cut it in the modern game. He is the next Justin Carney, but not as quick

If Jake has said something to that effect, then I'll go with believing you on that. Needless to say, his presence blocks two of Lam/Walker/Lussick for a spot in the squad. Something has to give, and I just feel Robbo may look to the future. If Cordner does indeed retire, Jake may hang around a bit longer.

Look, my post isn't to be the bearer of bad news. It's a bit of a heads up that our rebuild is commencing and our premiership window has closed for now. I've got full confidence in Robbo reshaping the team and leading us into a successful era post 2022.

This was the other knee for Billy. It’s the second time now.

If you think Friend will ever play for another club you are clueless. And what makes you think Titans or Broncos would want an aging and injury prone hooker? Don’t give me the, “He’s a Queenslander he’ll want to go home” rubbish. He has lived in Sydney since he was a teenager, has a business in Sydney and a long term partner from Sydney.

                No STEAK for you!

i don't have a crystal ball but steakface is pretty cluey.

you don't want to write cordner and friend off yet but nothing's forever.

lachie lam has next year to prove that he's got what it takes to be in the 17. fifita looks good. sitili's been great in patches and time will tell if he's good enough to be a top 80 min edge forward. if jwh is fit i'd probably start with him and bring lindsay on to up the tempo - the guy's fast and can outpace tiring defence.

When Lam is in his thirties will he still be trying to prove he’s a first grader?

the jury's out on him but he's had bad luck with injuries this year and last year. it seems that he's our first choice half for next year so i hope he's got the goods.

Our premiership window is open every year with the squad we have and will probably keep replenishing every season under the astute leadership of Trent and Uncle Nick. I don’t believe in rebuilding, we aim for success every year, gone are the transit lounge days .
