This probably deserves it own thread, probably is one somewhere, but here is how some may see Jake, Sam and Freddy.

Back in 2014 when Souths won the premiership, they had Isaac Luke as their hooker. Luke was in his prime back then and after a good season, he missed the their win in the GF after being suspended trying to take out Sonny in the prelim.

In steps a young Api Koroisau to the GF team and goes on to play a good game and help his side win the game and premiership.

Sound familiar? A little bit like Sam Verrills in our 2019 gf?

Look where Api and Isaac are now. Api bounced around and resettled at Penrith where he started his career and is one of the best hookers going around.

I think people on here are wary of that. Losing a future gun player whilst holding onto a club legend in the twilight of his career.

You are correct in your assessment.

We all love Friendy for his deeds at the club, however the loss of either Verrills or Lussick would be tragic for the club.

I personally think 2021 will be Friend's last year in the tri colours. I don't believe his annual roll-over contract will be renewed, and I expect his performance to continue on a gradual decline, as is normal for a hooker his age.

That decline wouldnt be as much of a problem in years gone by, however the new pace of the game these days will expose an aging nuggety hooker like Jake far quicker than expected.

We can only guess as to whether Robbo has given Friend the tap on the shoulder or not. If not, maybe it's because Robbo isnt sold on Lussick yet.

Verrills is coming off a second ACL injury, it remains to see how he comes back from it. If he comes back well from it, he will be the future 9, no doubt about that.

But decided I need a more legal means of retribution.
