  • Rugby League Digest podcast - must listen

Now the Chooks season is over and you have a bit of spare time, I would recommend everyone listen to this podcast.

It’s an incredibly thorough portrayal of what happened in the Super League war in the mid 1990’s. It starts in 1994 leading up to the raid and then details the 1995 Super League player raids.

What is apparent is how perilous the Roosters situation was, only for our generous benefactor Mr Nick Politis together with Kerry Packer and an arms distance John Quayle securing our future.

It’s an epic podcast and takes some time to get through but I strongly suggest every fan listen. The hosts play their roles perfectly and mix humour throughout and aren’t afraid to call out the absurdity that is rugby league.

    One for the history buffs.

Thank you for sharing Skeez, good stuff.
          MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

There were two claims made that astounded me. Both came from Peter ‘Bullfrog’ Moore, so possibly not true.

            * Easts started the Super League war when we went after Brad Clyde and Ricky Stuart in 1994 at the height of their careers.

            * In a proposed new reduced competition floated, there would be a culling of the Sydney teams to only two, Easts and Manly!

Manly were going great at the time, us not so much. All I could put it down to is that Kerry Packer was funding both clubs. Maybe Singleton believing the beaches would be the most marketable and having a team either side of the harbour.

What a load of shyte, as if they were ever going to get rid of teams like Parrra and Saints! Bullfrog just trying to justify their betrrayal of the ARL and his 'mate' Arko

From my recall BRISBANE were the instigators of the super league war, and I have hated them with a passion ever since.
