Once again the media BS is in full swing - the working class Westies/battlers against the might of Melbourne - sounds so 2003. It's a farking stereotypical cliche which has nothing to do with reality.

Of cource the Media didn't mention that houses in Penrith's Emu Plains cost 1.5 to 2 million along the Nepean river and that Easts fans cover Bondi to Mount Druitt to Gold Coast to Perth.

As someone else mentioned, Melbourne are most like us in terms of success, being hated and being penalised the most.

    Go Melbourne.

Also, weather prediction is RAIN for Sunday. Sounds familiar.

Will be a great equaliser in the GF.

RL gods must like the Riff.

I used to say this all the time on the old Wall. I have quite a few lovely friends who follow Penrith as they live out there. They all have very big houses, more than 1 car, every appliance known to mankind and massive air conditioners and big backyards. I've been in the same small apartment for nearly 10 years (which I am very grateful for) and my home office is my dining table (grateful also for the job I have), don't have a car and live with 2 small fans as I'm lucky to get a breeze here. I still would like to see them win as Melbourne have won plenty..

Won't really worry me either way who wins. If Melbourne win it will preserve our 19 in a row record, if Penrith win I will get to see Smith and Bellamy upset again

Tough for me. Eazy E at 5/8 for Penrith is in my top three most-hated but I don't mind the rest of the team. What Ivan did to West was really low too.

I have half a dozen Melbourne players at least that I can't stand. I am massively over Cam Smith acting the good sort about whether or not he will retire when it's obvious he is going to retire. Treating us all like idiots.

I guess I just want to see a good game and I expect Melbourne will win it. Penrith have had an very easy run.

Was saying the exact same today, this is re-run of 2003.
Panfers the minor premiers 17 straight wins are being made the rank outsiders by virtue of playing the poor from the down trodden west, the disadvantaged, the battlers, up against the priviledged, well to do, silver spooned favourites. Give them the white hats and black hats to Storm.

Exact same as 2003, though without the 17 straight lead in. But back then the media played up the rank outsider act , even though they were the minor prems. The whole week was the poor battlers up against the silver spoon latte brigade.
Its enough for me to get on the Storm bandwagon for this week !

...besides I cant stand the Riff no.6 Luai ...I would love to see him mess up bigtime on sunday ..wipe the arrogant smugness right off his face !

Yes, it is a bit of a no win situation from our perspective isn't it. I will be neutral and just enjoy the game for the spectacle that it is likely to be. Nice and relaxed for the grand final for once!

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

This talk about Cameron Smith being the best of all time gets me. Peter Sterling was right when he came out and referred to Wally Lewis. Smith is not the best of all time. Most arrogant, perhaps. Smartest, maybe. But not the best.

This probably warrants its own separate thread for another time!

Brett Kenny is my all time favourite player and one of the best I have ever seen. Natural ability that you could not imagine just by looking at him walking down the street, humble and an excellent coach too as he led the Panthers Flegg side to a grand final win in 2006. All those tries in all those grand final wins too which appear to have been forgotten by many but not me..he has also been battling cancer at various times too but still keeps working as much as he can.

I remember sitting in my sister's kitchen in Melbourne in 2011 saying to my niece, "Don't worry. One day they will all retire and we won't have to look at them again!" My list is probably the same as yours but mine included the likes of Thurston too etc from other clubs...

I'm going to watch the women's team, the retiring players' tribute to see Aubbo and Amy Shark sing and then that will do me. It's not a long weekend and I can't stay up past 9pm..

I live in the lower Blue Mountains so half my mates from work follow the Panthers, most are my age and all are basically mortgage free at 45 and travel overseas each year.....not Bali lol. Their homes are worth around 1 mil, yes very little by Eastern Suburbs standards but they are living a very comfortable lifestyle . I certainly wouldnt call them battlers.

You don't get the real picture, penrith supporters lay low then are the first farkers to wind you up after a loss, or a gf loss, there 5/8 is a dog and if every I wanted the storm to win this is it

Penrith have won 17 in a row so if they do win the GF it will be 18 so Chooks will still have the record of 19
