  • Benji Marshall at HB?

Just putting it out there... would surely be up there with Pearce and Jack Bird for a shot at the job?

The only thing in Marshall's favour is that he would be dirt cheap, whereas Pearce would want 800k and Bird likely something obscene too.

All three are past their best IMO, but only one can be had for a sensible price.

Pearce and Bird are absolute no-go's. Pass on both.

The other thing is that, for all Marshall's faults on the field, he is a genuinely top bloke by all accounts.

Could be worth a flutter for 1 year only whilst Walker/Lam learn the ropes.

So it’s the pensioner, the alcoholic or cotton wool man.

How many more years does Lam have to learn the ropes for? He can’t cement a spot so he mustn’t be that good.

Benji was a turnstile this year, not sure he would last long under Robbo.

Close to the worst defender in the league. No way Robbo goes down that path.

What should be asked is can Benji , Bird or Pearce help win us a comp. For me none of them . Only one for me would be Maloney who probably wouldn't come back .

Bryce Cartwright would be my choice. Tough, reliable & a team player.

I actually agree with Mickie, I think Cartwright is a chance.

On the other three, no. We at least need a goal kicker.

I am not sure what the short term answer is TBH.

We need an alternative to SST for our kicking.
                      MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

Who said he is learning the ropes still.

Did you want him to overtake Cronk, Keary or maybe Pearce in the pecking order? Or play when he's injured perhaps. Our quality of halves and his injuries at the wrong time are the only reasons he hasnt been in firsts regularly.

We always had to sign another half when Cronk retired...you need 4 in your 30 man squad. Im guessing the reason Flanagan got first dibs was on Cronks recommendation. Preferring an organising half who needs to work hard on his game rather than a more natural footy player like Lam. The coaching staff decided differently as the year progressed though.

                        My two cents worth anyway.

                          No
we need to refresh, we have enough veterans. I would keep Flanagan over him. A big problem in the Flanno situation is who the hell is going to be our goal kicker
You don’t plan finals with a part-time kicker.

Exactly - cannot contemplate that the plan is for SST to be the main kicker - its not NFL so he cant come on just to kick the goal when he 's on the bench resting - Walker if selected to play half will have more than enough on his plate let alone being the main goal kicker - time will tell but i have a bad feeling about this - under the current rules and proposed ones turning 4 into 6 is paramount- could end up like the Sharks in 2019 -score more tries but lose because they had no proper goal kicker.

If we had faith in him we wouldn’t have signed Flanno and probably wouldn’t have considered Walker either.
