  • Will Teddy ever play 5/8th ???

Out of left field I know, but like Lockyer I think Teddy would be a great success at 5/8th. I know he would have to have a kicking game, but the role he plays in attack is always in and around the ruck. Would certainly solve our halves problem if Keary player halfback with Teddy, and Manu moved to Fullback. Lockyer was classed as the worlds best fullback in 2003 and changed to 5/8th in 2004, aged 27, same age as Teddy is now. I think Manu has the skills to play fullback.

    Manu
    Toups
    Morris
    Smith
    Morris
    Teddy
    Keary
    JWH
    Friend/ Verrills
    SST
    Boyd
    Angus
    Rads

    Collins, Liu, Sitili, Friend/Verrills

i'm happy with him staying at 1. his ball playing has improved but it's his running game that is the world's best. good to have him with his hands on the ball in space. but i don't have a problem with him getting ball close to the ruck and taking advantage of tired defence.

I don't think so, I think he is still best popping up where he wants and hitting space off good ball or offload - he has developed his passing game which is a great skill to add as fullback, but don't think its a fulltime 5/8 level (at this stage anyway)

I'm sure he'd make a great 5/8 but the team you've listed does lack a goal kicker, unless Smith can kick. I wouldn't want be be relying on SST to pot the winner from the sideline.

Lockyer made the transition from 1 to 6 though - but i dont think that will happen - The Chooks dont need to make drastic changes - some squad spots will be up for grabs with players retiring and not re-signed - they need to sort out the contracts of players who can field offers from November 1 in terms of who they will be keeping - they may go to the external market for specific players to improve the depth in certain positions as well? .

Some of the contracted players who can field offers from November 1 played only 1 game or no games at all so i dont know how they determine whom to re-sign on that basis.

I actually would like to see him play more of a fullback role like he used to and less first reciever, IMO he has more impact and quality tonhis game this way. If Sam Walker is what they say/hope he is, we will be sweet

Not as far fetched and definitely better than Manu to hooker.

I get where op is coming from - our halves were the smallest in the top 4 - you look at the remaining 4 teams, at least one or both the halves are built like a smallish backrower - Wighton, Walker (not tall but solid as), Munster and Cleary.

Ours were tiny in stature not just height but width. The last 3 games, all traffic was directed at Flannery and Keary. They have heart, mongrel and are tough, but both are slight in frame.

Teddy's ball playing and passing has improved a lot, but yeah he needs to work on a kicking game.

Wighton - he's a machine. If you stop him, you've stopped Canberra.

They should defend on the wing -not sure why they defend 3 in making them easy targets in attack- as you say they are slight and small in statue - Wing i recall used to defend on the wing as he too was small in statue - Fittler was the size of a backrower so was better equipped to handle the defensive duties

Dont like it since the move will block sam walker an teddy will have more injuries tackling more than running

Teddy is not a five eighth. He doesn't need to be making 20 tackles a game.

Let him remain the best fullback in the game.

MMM reported last week that contract negotiations have stalled because of some extreme clauses that Teddy wants added.

Which one of you clowns started this rumour ffs?

I think things should be left well enough alone. If it aint broke and all that. Good to think through the possibilities though NSK, good one.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.
