  • Four Moments

Ofcourse I am gutted. But imagine how our players feel. How fine a line it is between a win and a loss. Three times I thought we were gone, and yet we were still in it with one minute to go. Four moments which could easily have been different, and if just one of them had gone our way we win that game.
    1. The penalty against Jared for a minor brush to the kicker, something which would be play on 9 times out of 10, leads to Papali's try and Keary being off for 15 minutes. Different call we win.
2 Manu's no try. I believe he had every right to reach out to ground that ball. He did not promote his body, just stretched out, I have seen these given plenty of times, notably Allan Langer reaching over his head backwards o score in a SOO.
3 The high tackle on Morris while trying to score. How was that not a penalty to us?
4, Teddy missing that loose ball. I saw him get injured, looked like a groin strain in a tackle close to our line about 10 minutes before that. I thought he might have to go off but as the champion he is he played on. I am sure it limited his movement towards that ball, but he got a shocker of a bounce as well.

If only ONE of those decisions had gone our wat we win, so disappointing as a fan, but imagine how the players feel.

I am not here to bag players on their performance, they all make mistakes in the pressure of battle. they have to make decisions under extreme pressure and fatigue, and one wrong step can make a huge difference. If Toups had been outside Morris near the line wide open, we win.

Three teams we have played in the last 3 weeks have completed at over 90 percent, unreal. They have got every bounce and they have all played to their best.

In our two semis we have come back from 18 and 16 points down to take it to the wire.

Proud of our boys, gutted for them.

One missed conversion against Penrith, which he would kick 99 times out of a 100 and we wouldn't have even had to play last night. Such a game

WE lost the game, but we lost nothing as a club.

The Manu double movement was a fair enough call I thought. The Morris head high should have been a penalty though. Just needed more luck with those kind of things, didn’t get it all night.

Anyway massive effort to nearly jag a win with the two front rowers missing.

Add Tupou missing outwide when we were 6-0 down and Morris looking for him to score

That was perplexing to say the least.

Two moments for me. Fat Papali rolling over after just a few minutes and Fat Papali setting up their second try. If we stop these moments they don’t get out to a big lead. Weak defence. No need to sugar coat it.

yeah, could have gone either way. still, if we're defending properly they don't score their first three tries.

jwh's late tackle wasn't a penalty - that was a dive by wighton.

i thought the kick for wighton's try was one of the most skilful short kicks i've ever seen. seemed a crap kick straight to teddy but had that wicked spin on it. williams saw where teddy was, deliberately kicked to teddy's right, had him moving that way, and then the spin took it away from him to his left. as good a weighted kick as you'll ever see. the footy equivalent of shane warne bowling gatting around his legs.

The rooster need a rest, its been a massive 3 years and a freshen up is required. They are burnt out . 2 grand finals 2 wwc 3 finals series, it has taken its toll and it showed all of a sudden.
I dont believe its attitude as they fought till the end , only the souths game they threw the towel in but it was a dead rubber.

Melbourne would have finished us off if we got over the line, it wasn't meant to be this season.....the 2 ACLs in one match was probably the sign.

I don’t think we were good enough last night and it showed in the end..

Throw in the injury to SST and Collins and even if we won Melbourne would’ve put us to bed next week.

We have been up for a long time and been very successful, and I am a realist and understand it’s time to re-set and go again next year!

Yeah what the hell happened there? Was toops down injured? That hurt us as well as the manu dropped ball over the line on the first tackle. 6 all would have been a totally different game.

The only thing I can think of is that he started heading infield when it looked like the pass was going to be scooped up by the Raiders player. Otherwise, he was terribly out of position and cost us big time

So close, yet so far away.

The game was there for the taking but they just couldn't get it done this time around. I am certain the fellas are feeling absolutely gutted after that. To think that the guys didn't play their best game and still came perilously close. Only 4 points in it despite the poor start. Likewise for the previous week only going down by 1 point.

Yes it all revolves around moments. There are many moments in a whole match, some turning out to be very crucial. There are several what ifs. What if Toups was in position when JMoz was looking for his support? What if Jake doesn't put in the panic kick just before half time? What if the ref wasn't a ****? And so on and so on. We can go on and on.

The fact is this team has already done what no other has done in the modern era. Back to back NRL premiers as well as back to back World Club Champions. How long will it take for any other club to match that feat? Especially within the bounds of the NRL business model?

Sure it is hugely disappointing to go out in the fashion that we have but we will all get over it soon enough. Life goes on.

Toops knocked off for a smoko break and was badly out of position for a certain try on that play. Klein penalty on Jared early was huge and we didn't put any pressure on their kickers after that. Klein double down and followed it up with a 6 again not long after and they scored.
Thought we deserved a penalty for a high shot on jmoz near the end.

Toups was absolutely inexcusable. Massive turning point. Would have been 6-4 or maybe 6-6. Instead ended up 16-0.

Exactly, we may not have got a few 50-50s but ultimately it was piss weak defence that was the reason we lost.
