What a load of bullcrap that roosters have to "overcome 112 years of history" to win the comp.
People usually aren't smart enough to know the difference between an association and a cause/effect relationship.
Generally yes teams who concede 50 points in a game have associated problems/weaknesses that make them unlikely to be premiers. But the scoreline alone doesn't magically curse them to be unable to be premiers.
Before last Friday our points differential was unmatched. I have no doubt our players were instructed not to bust a gut in a dead rubber. Obviously the inflated scoreline was ugly and compounded by Souffs being very good and quite lucky with many of their 10 tries coming on the back of the 12-2 penalty/restart advantage they enjoyed that fatigued our players (following a 9-1 6 again count the previous week that forced us to tackle all second half against sharks
A more accurate predictor might be how many top 4 sides ,who have lost a dead rubber in the last round by 52 points in a season shortened by covid, with a new 6 again rule introduced after the season's commencement, have then gone on to win a premiership. Well of course the answer is none, because none of these things have ever happened before.
Piss off with your dumb superstitions.
The Souffs scoreline won't stop us getting the 3 peat. But I agree with other posters that another 12-2 penalty/restart count may be insurmountable.
