The squad looks old and tired. I'm not saying we can't win it from here - I reckon we can - but next year ought to be the start of a rebuild.

Don't think we have the right mix of young and old heads. That's a tricky one to manage in a squad but it's crucial.

Cords, Aubs, the twins, SBW, Friend etc are all outstanding players, but is the rigour of a long ass NRL season too much for that many vets?

Perhaps, but I don't think it is too lop sided with oldies. We need to manage a mini transition without having to resort to an all out rebuild, which seems rather dramatic given how and where we are positioned at the moment.

I would be interested in other's views on this one.
    MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

Billy smith is back next year, as well as verrills and radley. SBW won’t be here, and then Aubbo retires. Then consider the fact that we will probably sign players next year and our squad is looking well balanced

Aubbo isn’t a centre - he’s too slow for that position which showed tonight, Cords is only 28.. still a while to go for him, friend I can agree on we can probably push him out for SV but even that it’s not fair to say as he was rubbed out early tonight and if anything probably made us a lot weaker defensively, the twins have been on fire all season some are even asking for j moz to return to origin.. we just got our asses handed to us, for the next 2-3 seasons we should be OK but after that our junior talent pool seems shallow and that’s a worry.

12 other teams including the 8 that missed out on the finals would like to be in the chooks position- tonight was more than embarrassing and all players need to be honest with themselves and team mates as that was a totally unacceptable performance.

I would say the mix is quite good actually.

Have a look at the results this year and last and tell me otherwise.

            However two points.

            1. Both Morrises are in their twilight and in all possibility could retire at the same time. 3/4 depth is thin, with nothing of note behind Manu and Billy Smith for the 3. and 4. jerseys.
            2. The time for the Friend succession plan is now. Leave it any longer, and we risk losing Verrills and/or Lussick (certainly 1of them). Friend is not going to get any quicker or stronger. It's a hard decision to make, but i think Robbo is going to tell him to take quite a bit less money next deal, or alternatively do well for himself with a big final deal up north in Brisbane perhaps.

I think it's some of our bench and fringe players that are the concern.
Butcher, Lam, Ikuvalu, Hall, Hutchinson, the big fella that came on and gave away two head highs.
The "resting players" approach backfired big time tonight. We look unstructured, disorganised, lost and leaderless.

We definitely have an ageing squad. Several who’ll be finished in a year or two and then a bunch of veterans in their late 20s to early 30s who are closer to the end than the start. Going to be a very different looking team in 2 to 5 years.

The squad certainly isn’t getting any younger but we have Verrills and Radley who are both very young and could play for years to come. You don’t want to have too many young guys and not enough experience as the Broncos have showed this season.

Who do you think you are kidding mr shitler if you think old England's done

That was what they would always say when the Chooks played on Anzac day in the 70's - Chooks players march in the morning and then play in the afternoon.- Called the Chooks Dad's Army as they did have few players nearing the end of their career's

There is a lot of risk in how we manage our cap. Salary Sombrero idiots don't understand that our quality falls off a cliff after about player 20. It's the only way to keep a lot of our superstars.

If we win this year, I'm content with miss out finals next year as part of team rebuild phase

Prefer Verrills. Lussick too slow out of dummy half

I think the club need to startt planning for the future years as of season s end and make sure we have adequate young talent coming through We have a lot of players who are at the back end of their careers Not many saw the downfall of Canterbury when they had a similar roster age wise to us some years back If you dont plan early you get left behind
