  • Robbo 200 n.o.

Pretty sure they said on Fox tonight that the game against the Tigers was Robbo's 200th in charge of the Roosters. If so, great knock, Coach! May you go on and on. Superb so far. What a privilege to watch our team under his coaching. I seriously think he has lifted the whole club.

    No doubt.

Robbo has been a true blessing to our organisation.

He will leave a legacy at our club that will last for decades.
    MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

How good to see on the roosters Instagram page, after the game in the sheds the boys gave robbo a bottle of wine and a big nice applause at the end for his 200th. Good stuff to see

Robinson has set a new standard not only for the Roosters but the entirety of the game itself, clubs follow our lead and try to model running a organisation just like Easts from grass roots of the game, to the front office, he builds men, makes them role models before they even set foot on the field, he is the ultimate professional, he is calculated and controlled but at the same time allows his players to express themselves through actions on the field you can see this in our team look how many Roosters were back running down Tommy Talau, I think 4 possibly 5 were back there ready to defend the next play effort on effort on effort, I thought we were shot at that point Tigers were well in it.

46/200 where the other side kept to nil in first half (not including WCC). Another seven where they only scored two by half time.

              A truly incredible stat.

              We are so lucky.

THE NRL NEEDS ROBBO JUST AS MUCH AS WE DO....

'They don’t know how to develop coaches': Robinson criticises clubs after Seibold sacking

Roosters coach Trent Robinson has called on NRL clubs to spend more time developing coaches, rather than simply sacking them as dispensable commodities. Anthony Seibold on Wednesday joined Stephen Kearney, Dean Pay, Paul Green and Paul McGregor as the fifth coach to leave their club this season. It is the first time in 22 years five have been handed their marching orders in the same campaign.

"The needs of the job in the last decade have grown," he said. "Rather than just attack and defence, there's a lot more scrutiny. And, as we said with the coaches' association, there is very little education - other than playing rugby league - that goes into coaching our sport. Robinson views the remarkable turnover as a symptom of a lack of development within NRL clubs.

"The needs of the job in the last decade have grown," he said. "Rather than just attack and defence, there's a lot more scrutiny. And, as we said with the coaches' association, there is very little education - other than playing rugby league - that goes into coaching our sport.

So, how do we develop that? As I said, the clubs need to take responsibility. They don’t know how to develop coaches, for the most part. All they do is hire a coach and if they don't do well, they get rid of them quite quickly.

"The development of coaches within the club needs to improve. I think the responsibility needs to lie not just with the coach but the people that select the coach and put them into a position.

"That’s not the priority at the moment. The clubs need to take responsibility for that."

Robinson does not believe coaches need more "protection" but called upon clubs to examine other options before pulling the trigger on underperforming coaches.

"I don’t think there needs to be more protection. There needs to be more development of coaches," he said.

"We understand the role and we understand it’s a results driven role but as I said, the role has evolved.

"Let’s do a bit more. I would be interested in the clubs that have sacked their coaches about when they felt like it turned, what they implemented there to support and improve the process for the coach and for the staff around that. "I would be interested to see what their methods were, in that."

While Robinson described on-field scrutiny as "normal", he could not cop the "disgraceful" off-field interrogation such as that which rocked both Seibold and his family.

"I’ve gone for almost nine or 10 minutes and no one has asked me about the game tomorrow," he said. No one is interested in how the game is and how we look at it. We love watching it and it supports what we all do and why we’re all on this interview right now, but we care more about the drama around it.

"That’s the spot we’re in, in 2020. Therefore, the scrutiny around it was disgraceful on Anthony."

Robinson will have Boyd Cordner (concussion) and Daniel Tupou (syndesmosis) back in his team to face Seibold's former club tomorrow night.

"You have one of the most competitive guys in our sport out for six weeks because it’s the right thing to do," Robinson said of Cordner. "And it wasn’t us keeping him out. It was a joint decision about how we were going to look after it."As competitive as you are and as brutal as you are in the way that you play, you also have to look after yourself and look after your health - right now and in your future."
