  • JWH vs Hethrington,

Great battle in the middle I thought young Jack was very good for the warriors, he also really got under Jared’s skin now he’s being attacked online for snubbing a handshake, that was very unlike Jared, something must have been said that probably wasn’t in the spirit of the game (I’m not sure just guessing) because Jared is an absolute gentleman off the field, even after some big clashes with rivals like Storm, Raiders and Souths he’s the first to shake hands and exchange pleasantries with rival players.

I'm glad Hetherington wound him up. He was angry in his next hit up and made good ground, contributing to Manu's try.

Was interesting, possible line crossed with the verbal by young Jack?

There was a disallowed try where he was found to be impeding the defensive line ( try was never going to be awarded for other reasons) but he was too pre-occupied with Jack and not focused on his positioning.... Could have been costly.
        Still my fave though!

just saw the post game 'snub' by jwh. nothing in it. jwh acknowledges him but doesn't want to be his bff. maybe didn't have to wriggle away from the hug but he gives him a parting pat.

If I remember correctly, wasn't Hetherington happily released by the roosters because of how he behaved on the field? I vaguely remember a story about him trying to start a fight at training when he was in the 20s?

            Can anyone confirm?

Anasta spoke about this in the league wrap up show on fox, said young jack was known for throwing hands when he coached him in our under 20s system.

Why did it take this long in a game for JWH to start playing like he should have from the start we might have played a lot better and won by a more respectable margin.

I think Robbo said it best... JWH, Teddy and Keary played themselves into the game after having no luck with their initial efforts. Sometimes that's how games go. I'm glad they all persisted and eventually found form/dominance in the final quarter.

While the refs weren't to blame, IMO they basically let the Warriors suffocate us outta the contest while demanding that we release players earlier than what I'd consider the usual expectation. I reckon this (plus the Warriors ALWAYS getting a double call of 'TACKLED... [5 seconds]... RELEASE!!!') Frankly, the refs don't HAVE to give a warning of any sort, they can just blow their whistle (particularly if it's a pattern). Not saying this 'cost' us but I think it kept us honest (along with their flukey, once in a season try early on). We got nothing for free so just had to stay calm + keep at it.

Great practice for when we play the Drizzle/Raiders because they are two pretty ordinary teams that seem to get reffed into games like that (e.g. when we played the Raiders, they magically started trying those 5 man strips again and it didn't cost them in terms of penalties). Sometimes you just need to stay focussed and believe in your systems rather than doing a Jake and constantly losing your head at the ref.

I agree with your sentiments about Jared, however we were held up three times the warriors defence yesterday was excellent put any other team out there yesterday and they would have had trouble scoring , they contained Teddy kept him out of the game they well and truly did their homework on us. Robbo gave the boys 5 days off and only concentrated on defence for a few sessions, ball control is still our biggest weakness.

You can't win. When players hug and smile after a game, some suggest they are too friendly after a game. Now that JWH shakes hands and leaves it at that, some are suggesting that it is poor form blah blah blah. Get over it people. We won and some players still had the cranks. I like that attitude. If anyone is offended they can go march ......... straight into Sydney Harbour with opened cans of tuna in their pockets.

Jared might just be taking the covid advice seriously and refusing to shake hands.lol.

He did shake hands, briefly , but resented the hug and kiss on the lips by Hetherington ( not that there's anything wrong with that )
