  • Lachlan Lam

Has to be starting hooker next week surely imo

our attack suffers when Jake is around the ruck, put him at lock and tell him his only job is to tackle

Lam was awesome for us in attack. I wouldn't go as far as to start him at hooker but definitely when forwards are struggling he adds the spark

Friend looked buggered once again, is it just fatigue or is he playing with an injury? Either way, he needs a game off to rest up. When he’s fully fit he’s great but when he’s not he’s frustrating.

When he came on it should have been replacing Friend, it would have added instant spark. Instead Lamb had to play as a forward and when he got his chance it wasn't as impact full as when he came on last time.
Lambs service could have been better but friend was off his game today. I really think his days are numbered as a 80 minute hooker.

We looked very small with Lam, Butcher and Friend on there together. Worriers were getting plenty of yards.

Warriors wanted it more than us today. They have very little talent comparatively speaking in that side but you can't deny they appeared to be more hungry

As I said in the other thread, I don't see any harm with starting Lam and have Lussick off the bench for next week, and see how that goes. Perhaps Jake could take a breather for a week or two and come back raring to go against the Storm. Match experience can potentially be helpful for us late in the season.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

Thought he was terrific when he came on and I like how he took the line on. I'd be giving him a run at half on the right edge as he takes the line on.
Our attack that side is pedestrian and predictable because young Flanagan is just shuffling it along the backline without posing a running threat.
Joey Manu hasn't received any decent ball off him all year which is a waste of our best attacking weapon behind Teddy.

Thought Lam was struck off the list never to play first grade?

To be fair, the Warriors were marching up through the middle long before Lam and Butcher came on. We actually went better when they were on. Could be the Warriors big guys were having a rest though

No they didn't. Both teams wanted it, we were just a bit off our game. Robbo gave the team 5 days off this week so they only had 2 days to prepare for the game, hence the rustiness in attack. He knows if we had prepared like we were playing a top team that we could run up a cricket score but took the opportunity to try and freshen the guys up.

this is one of the reasons robbo is such a good coach - he plays the long game.
also a reminder that dally m coach of the year should be awarded after the gf. awarding it after the round robin is like giving the melbourne cup to the horse that leads at the last turn. not saying every gf winner deserves coach of the year, but winning the comp should be a big factor.

4 days off would've been better, with one day for passing and catching practice, and "how not to give away dumb penalties" practice.

Was not convinced with Lam at the end of last year, but he has improved out of sight and will play an important role for the team in the next couple of months.
