  • The Last Team Standing Premiership

Injuries always play there part in deciding the premiership, but like a lot of the Chookpen have highlighted in other posts, I think the stop start nature of this year and the condensed fixture are really going to take their toll on players and mean injury prevention and recovery are critical to ultimate success. Survival of the fittest.
To date I really felt that the raiders, manly and our boys had been disproportionately hammered.

however we are starting to see other teams feeling the pinch:
    Knights lost Saifiti
Mizzle list Bromwich to go with Munster
    Raiders the nightmare continues
and lots of others across all sides.

How well teams can simulate game pressure in training and keep their second tier players ready may well be the key. So far we have done well in this regard as well (Lam, Iku etc.)
    Go ROOSTERS

Minor injuries for Storm. Barely worth a mention compared to our injuries,

Granted but Munster wasn’t minor and I am hoping things start to even out.

how much more common are injuries this year? there are always going to be injuries - is this year much worse?

we lost billy pre-virus and rads and sammy on a surface that had to be re-laid the week after.

Injuries have & always will play a massive part on which team wins the comp. The Roosters season is 1 head knock away from being favourites to non contenders.
If Penrith lose Cleary for the season they can’t win the comp, if Melbourne lose Smith their season is over, no Hodgson see later Canberra & so on. Much to my surprise but Parra are going along nicely without Moses but if they lose Gutho I think they are gone. Manly can’t win it without Turbo. So if all those players & teams go down a team like Souths or maybe Newcastle could win the comp.

I'd call 2 or 3 weeks out pretty minor.

True and this shortened season it's even more so as the 8-10 week injuries are now nearly season ending.
Canberra and Manly were contenders for top 4 in most people's picks but have suffered losses to crucial players.
The winner of the comp usually uses the least amount of different players in the year around the 26-28 mark as you just don't have the depth to cover injuries.
The move of origin to the end of the year will also have an impact as teams won't have any byes to give the non rep players a chance to refresh and get over niggles.
Robbo is a master at timing the teams runs for the pointy end of the season so I'll be interested to watch how he manages to give the boys some rest when he can before the charge to the finals begins.

While I don't wish ill will on any player, and injuries on clubs, I do hope that the playing field so to speak becomes a bit more even or level, for our sake. We are having a tougher year than usual on the injury front (I guess it was always going to happen, given our recent run), and I just hope that doesn't cost us too dearly at the business end. Time will ultimately tell, but I hope we will be there when the whips are cracking.
                          MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

looking at Parra's next 5 games they are 5 games they should win - they will go 13 and 1 with 6 reg season games to go - I think it was said that Parra and Penrith have the easiest draws and the Chooks one of the hardest.
