Well, this is my first post here, and I'd like to say, been a lifelong Roosters fan, however have only been able to live in Sydney as an adult for the past two(ish) years.

Each of those years, I've had a membership. (Got to Sydney halfway through 2010, had a 3 game membership, Bronze 2011).

Now, here is my dilemma. My family (also Roosters supporters, but unfortunately living in Victoria due to work) have gifted me with a season membership. However the choice is between Silver Covered membership and Gold uncovered. (I will be attending as many games as possible, work and health permitting)

Apart from the obvious connotations, which is the better choice from an atmosphere, visibility and general fellow Easts supporters behavior would be the better choice?

    Cheers.

Silver covered. When I worked out there as an usher, the plumb jobs were covered positions.

Gold uncovered. Most of Bays 13/14 are Roosters fans. You seem young enough to
do your time in the elements.
I have retired from sitting in the rain, and torturing my joints using stairs.....so
I am in a covered section of Bay 13. I have met many other supporters, some from here
and The Wall. There are a few nut cases but most people are genuine East's tragics.

Welcome mate. The silver and gold memberships are on opposite sides of the SFS.

The silver membership gives you access to the Chook Pen (which is where you see all the big flags and banners). If you enjoy cheering loudly, singing and generally an upbeat atmosphere, definately sit there. It's on the opposite side of the players tunnel and is right next to the oppositions supporters bay (which makes some games very interesting). These bays are unreserved seating, which means you can sit anywhere within bay 34 and 35 (except for the covered sections, which are at the top of the bay - here you have your own seat). These bays are located on the 50 and 40 metre lines, so views are great!

The gold membership gives you access to the players tunnel side. The crowd is less 'crazy' there. So if you generally enjoy watching the game with less jumping and singing, sit there. I believe these are reserved seats, so you will choose (or be allocated) a seat which is yours for the whole season. Once again these seats are located on the 50 and 40 metre lines, so views are great

So it really comes down to personal preference

This link will help you (refer to page 10 and 11):

Thanks for the assistance, I have sat near the Chookpen on occasion. However not over near the tunnel. I am not particularly phased by the weather, I'm more interested in the atmosphere of the crowd in the various places.

I tend to jump up and down when a Try is scored, but am more sedate the rest of the game, more a watch and cheer sort of guy than up and dance around while the game is actually being played.

I'm just hoping that's not too exuberant for Gold, but after what I've seen discussed on the wall about some members of the Chookpen, they may be too distracting for me. The problem is never having been around the Gold section of the field before, I tend towards the Eastern Side... when I was looking for a GA seat thanks to my Bronze membership. Although the tunnel is tempting.

I have sat on both sides. If you're looking for atmosphere, then sit with the Chook Pen

I reckon the Tunnel side would probably suit you Eastern Born. I sit in Bay 14 under cover (having done my years in the elements) and rest assured that most of us on our side get up and cheer and dance when we score a try so you won't feel out of place.

I started out in the Chookpen years ago but have found the tunnel side is much more to my liking as I tend to stick the Sportsears in and 'zone out' during much of the game.

But whereever you decide to sit, I hope you enjoy the experience.

On the Eastern side the sun is in one's eyes and it can get hot?
