  • Manu's tackling technique

First I just want to say how good the game was to watch tonight! great performance and effort all round.
Now, I don't want to be a Negative Nancy but one of the things that I noticed tonight was that Manu was not committing to making contact with his shoulders in defence. was doing a lot of jersey grabbing. This was a part of his game early in his career before he made a massive improvement. I just hope it is not creeping back in.
Fingers crossed he was just having an off night. I really rate Manu!

I think you're spot. Certainly when he missed Jennings a couple of times i had some flashbacks of his early days. Im sure he will make the adjustment

Robbo acknowledged in the presser that Joey “missed a couple of crucial tackles.”

In the second half I was thinking to myself he looked disinterested and lazy. A long way off from the player we touted as being even better that Fatrell. Hope we see him back to his best again soon.

Joey still looked good with ball in hand, fatigue can make a fool of even the best....don't read too much into it.

I think he's just adjusting defending next to Flanagan instead of Cronk.

Cooper is arguably the best defensive halfback I've ever seen. A brilliant tackler, talker and decision maker.

                    He made Joey's job easier.

But with Flanagan there instead I think they just need time to work out their combination in D. I'm no expert but that half-centre wedge would be close to the hardest to defend on the field.

They'll adapt for when it matters.

laziness , can't be forgiven, I expect a total fronting up, missed tackles via era forgiveable, via laziness, no. see former centre. team standard.

He's been safe for a couple of seasons and he had a quiet night both in attack and defence. Nothing to be worred about.

Yes and Jennings did give him a hard contest as well

Good assessment, I agree Cronk made Joey a lot better. Now he has a half who has 16 odd appearances. Glad we have B Moz there
