  • Rooster support in media

Good to hear some support for the club from the media in recent times.....this morning Bulldog Ritchie and Laurie were discussing the jealousy etc. on Sky Sports radio...link below if it works.

As soon as someone talks about the cap etc, I ask, what do they think each player is on or what do they think they were on in 2018/19 etc...

Nobody can come back with anything, some think Latrel and Manu were on big money yet forget both were still on their first or upgraded contract when they emerged in 2018...

I ask them what would you pay Issac Liu or Nat Butcher etc and crickets... what do they think the Morris brothers are on....Brett offered himself to the Dragons for $250K and the knocked him back!!!!! I imagine even Jake Friend is not on huge coin compared to Cook or Smith right?

Etc etc..... they don't go spending a fortune on players in non critical positions...

You can spend 2/3 of the cap on 6 players and the rest can go on the next 20 or whatever... I imagine players

I heard Tunksy & Hughes yesterday trying to refute all the nonsense from other fans accusations of cap rort. Tunksy being an ex Roosters Jnr and never having played for the Roosters and his father being involved in the Eastern Suburbs Jnr competition, said that in any time in his involvement with league he had never seen any illegal stuff from the Roosters. They both agreed that the club is one of the best managed club in the comp which translates to success on the field.

Other fans have to invent invent things like sombreros, or fans, trophies or that the judiciary look after us, just because they can’t admit that their club is poorly run, but for fun I like to read other forums now & then and especially what stuff they say about the Roosters and while many of them bring up all that shit, there are many that are resigned to the fact that ‘the Rorters are going to be hard to stop’ or ‘ Why can’t our management recruit that well?’ That makes me laugh!

absolutely. seems like we are the salary cap manager kings. we've been smart. why? cos our survival depended on it. despite being vital to the establishment of league in oz, our diminishing junior base has meant we've had to be smarter than everyone else to survive. enter nick.
compare us to the broncs who have everything going for them - except recent premierships.
you look at our marquee players over the last couple of years - teddy and cronk - and they've provided value for money. guys like hunt and milford haven't. and then, as you say, we get guys who want to play for us and each other and will do so for less than they're worth.

Withna good coach that players want to play for and the fact that we have kept the core of the team together for quite a while and the fact that we bring several youngys who also played and stayed together all results in success...as Latrell will find out ....what he had here currently he will not find at souffs .
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

That's the key , keep the core group together , that's what all the successful club have done in the past .That and harmony in the playing group , they want to be there for each other

I've stopped listening to Talkin' Bulldogs because of Hughes and Tunks insinuating the Roosters are paying more than other clubs. Brett Papworth has to jump in to defend the club.

Geez I hope we can do the hat-trick. If we do this there's nothing to suggest we can't keep on winning.

I reckon our strength is that we:
                - Don't panic buy.
                - Don't look for loopholes that seem like a scam to everybody else (e.g. medically retiring your top 2 players then panic offloading Turner, Doueihi, Goodwin...etc to balance your already cooked books without having a solution to replace your $1 million forward).
                - Don't over-spend on somebody else's star player in order to force their hand. For example Ponga doesn't wanna play for Newcastle but he's been offered soooo much money he'd be stupid to leave. Not saying he isn't worth top shelf $$$. But like, is he REALLY worth more than say Tedesco? They shouldn't have to pay that much to retain one kid!!!
                - Develop players. Fox's panel were big on this one on Monday. We don't whinge that we don't have [insert superstar of the day]. Rather, we train up our players so that they meet that standard tomorrow. This means that at any given time we'll have a stack of good players on initial contracts that are worth very little.

Would any other fan want to see any club bar their own, with the potential to win 3 comps in a row? Remember manly not long ago, the most hated club in the league with their success and endless money, bozo and Arthurson, now people are almost feeling sorry for them.

hated, jealousy and talked about is a good thing, the alternative is what really sucks.

Theres a difference between having a dig at the Roosters especially when Pappworth is in for a laugh and having a nasty dig at the Roosters by promoting fake news. They are always having a dig between themselves about Canterbury, Tigers in which Robbo follows or Papworth. Overall I find them to be honest but entertaining.

Hughes and Tunks were very strong in their support for us after the GF last year when most other media morons were on the Canberra was robbed bandwagon. They have a dig here and there but its light hearted stuff; when its time to be serious they're very fair and seem to have a lot of respect for Robbo, Uncle and the Roosters. I enjoy the show.

The complements thrown at Robbo by the commentators after the Monday night game on Fox made me blush. He was very highly praised.

Tunks the bold turd Rooster hating A-Hole (despite being a Roosters junior) was also very complimentary about how well our club is run.

I met Hughes last year at a Xmas function and had a good chat to him ... both of us had a few..... but he was glowing in his praise of Robbo...said he couldn't see how we'd be over the cap and pretty much rattled off all the unsung players on smaller contracts much like Daley did this morning and any of us guys would. Said most players aren't even interested in talking to other clubs and have no idea if they are worth more on the market because they are happy....

When people go on about the Roosters and the salary cap i ask them this one 1 question..... In 2013 the Roosters got SBW. In 2019 they got Angus Crichton. Between 2013 & 2019 name me 1 big name forward they have purchased on big money. Just 1! No wonder they got money in the cap to splash on a fullback and halves

Ah, the good ol' salary cap joke.

Everyday on the playground when footy is brought up and I say anything, it's always cheats, over the salary cap, Uncle Nick buying players cars and houses. All this from the majority of Bulldogs and Dragons fans with the one Manly and Souffs fan and a few tigers fans in my group of mates. It's funny cause they'll harp on cap management when their clubs can't even manage to do balance the cap like the Roosters. Reeks of bitterness which is a testament to the club hiring the right people and being smart with recruitment.
