DEvastated, not too proud a man to admit to shedding a tear or 2 to IMO the greatest all round league player of all time.

            RIP Arthur

Rip Artie. Terrible news. Just looking at the photos of Artie adorning my wall and shedding a tear for my childhood hero. An awesome player, a Roosters legend and a wonderful person. In the words of your old mate Jack Gibson "You have played strong , done good." you will be missed but never forgotten. A terrible week for me losing two heroes in one week Artie today and Gary Speed earlier in the week. I hope the club honours Artie's memory and service to the club in a very fitting way.

Very sad news, what a player .....

I feel very privileged to have the big man at my night, he hadnt been to any Easts functions since the club employed POS.

                Rest in peace Artie

RIP to the greatest player ever. But not only was he a great player, he was also a great human. I love you Artie and i'll miss you until we all re-unite one day.

I'm not terribly religious, but I'd like everyone to also say a prayer for Bomber Peard. He looked absolutely shattered on the News tonight (they were best mates for those who dont know).

The first game of football I ever attended was Easts v St George at the SCG in 1977. Artie was sent off for elbowing, I think, Ted Goodwin, in the head. We lost.

I was too young to see him at his best, but the remnants of his greatness were still visible in 1977, 78. At his best, he was a force of nature within the game. A champion, surely, in any era; incredible skills. And a great coach, too; was unlucky not to win a premiership with Easts in 1987.

I only met him once. I think it was 2004. I asked him about Jamie Soward's chances of making it in first grade. He couldn't stop laughing.

                      That was Artie.

I was about to post the exact same thing.
Peardy looked absolutely gutted .....very heart wrenching to watch.

RIP Hero and Champion. The greatest footballer I've ever seen play. Just watched som Youtube videos of the 74-75 Roosters.
An inspiration to the club, his heritage and the game. Deserves a state funeral. Perhaps the Roosters can wear black armbands for the season and retire the #11 for a season.
Any ideas for a suitable sendoff?
I loved somebody's post about Big Jack calling him up to play in Heaven. Touching.

I'm most saddened. What a huge loss.

What news channel was peardy interviewed on Hawkeye. Will try to catch it later tonight. Hope Peardy is ok as he a Artie were great mates. Terrible news all round. Have been looking at the 1974 and 75 grand final photos hanging on my wall with both Artie and Peardy in those two magnificent sides. The 1975 side the greatest ever in my opinion.
