  • NRL Considers A String Of Rule Changes for 2020

    DT today:

"A number of proposals are being thought out as part of several committees established by the NRL ahead of their planned return."

    "Among the considerations:

    . Lifting interchanges from 8 to 10.
. Introducing an 18th man who can take the field if a player is ruled out because of concussion.
. Having a 15 minute half time instead of 10.
. Potential for drink breaks at the 20th minute mark.
. 20 players available for selection up to an hour before kick-off.

" Not all of these proposals will be brought in but they are just some of the measures being discussed in a bid to combat potential injury concerns for players who might be underdone."

The increase in breaks is a directive from the broadcasters who still demand change like they own the competition.
    ..it’ll be interesting to see

I can see headbins to get that 18th man on.

          I'm not sure about it.
          I never played the game.
          One question I have is:
" If players come off at half time and cool down for 15 mins, do they get to feel like the match is over and it's going home time?"

Half times are usually closer to 15 minutes than 10 anyway. If they say 15, get ready for 20!

              20 mins.
              Players could have a "power-nap".

When was the last time there was 10 min half time. Officially it is 10 minutes, but in reality its always between 15 & 20.

I know it is not directly related, but I wish they could introduce a rule to start the games on time.

No other code in world sport that I am aware of treats their starting times with such contempt.

I know it annoys commentators like the ABC' s Andrew Moore; it bloody well annoys me too!
                      MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.
