I still believe we're a big forward short. Tall, solid, Sonny Bill like. Bigger than Butcher, different shape from Collins. Maybe when Maubs retires.
Radley is small for a forward. He needs to stop making errors, and make more effective tackles. Maybe he goes to the bench and Butcher starts the game.
Start the game with Verrills like in the GF, and Jake plays from the bench.

I think Collins is a must for the 17. Genuine prop who bends the line.and seems to have cut out his basic errors in the few games we have seen this year

Still the best 17 in the competition by a decent margin. World class bench, with Sammy Verrills scrapping for a spot, too. But Lindsay's time has come. He makes a huge impact off the bench.

a shortened season doesn't do Sammy any favours. he's between two rocks and hard place - won't play big mins in firsts, won't have reserves to get a bit of game time, less chance of Jake getting injured or missing games through origin.

if it's only 13 games until the semis then we need to put the best team on the park every week. Sammy's not guaranteed a spot.

I like the idea of starting with Liu and have Radley off the bench, and it's a toss up between Verrills and Collins, you can make a case for both. I'd go with Verrills as his running and passing amongst the forwards can be o great benefit towards the end of the game against a mediocre Souths pack.

There will be a very different dynamic affecting the NRL teams with no Canterbury Cup comp this year.

If you drop a player, they won't play at all, and are replaced by a guy who hasn't been playing at all.

It's a different scenario for coaches to manage.

We could see guys continuing to play top 17 even if not in good form. We will get a very good idea of "top" squads when the next round teams are named.

The coaches who manage this best will have their teams fighting out the finish. We could alternatively see some deliberately rotating guys through their roster to get a bigger base of players with some match practice across the season.
