It should depend on each member's personal situation. Some may lose their jobs and a footy club membership won't become top of their priority list if they have lots of mouths to feed and look after, or bills and motgages.

I won't be asking for a refund either. I haven't been going to quite as many games at the SCG, but one added reason for maintaining my membership is to be in the running for a good position/location when the new Allianz is finally open. I also took up the $5 Kayo membership deal. Good so far, but then the NRL postpones the season. That would be my luck wouldn't it!
        MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

IMO there will be more deals and perks to come.

End of the day I didn't 'by season tickets for my family'. I bought 4 club memberships because I wanted to join Easts as a club. The merch & tickets are what I'd call 'gifts' from the club to say thanks for signing up as a member.

FWIW my kids don't even have to pay for tickets on game day so me purchasing bronze memberships for them is purely for the membership (and partly so they don't become Raiders fans... they are already copping it at childcare for rocking up to their educators [who are wearing Raiders kit] and being like 'hey remember that game where the Roosters played the vikings? I saw it and the vikings lost... coooock-a-doooodle-dooooooo!!!')

I want to see a few things happen. 1 / Nobody should be made to feel that their membership money is a compulsory investment, or 2/ Nobody feeling shamed that they want their 400 + odd back,

As for making a decision if and when the time comes about gifting membership money - I want to see hard sacrifices from the league first, their running costs, the administration, and how the dark that 100 mill was allowed to be spent by the events department, the Perth nines the crappy grand final band the stupid expenses for all the bells and whistles.

We know the players are making sacrifices, we will no doubt be asked to sacrifice if we want to, but what about the league and its leeches who all go home to sleep on their big pile of money. Thats where I stand.

Haha funny you say that i just read an article saying surely they will.
On a side note..can you imagine how much this will cost someone like David Fifita who comes off contract this year

Really can't see contracts being what they were , sponsorship will take years to get back to 2019 levels , if they ever do , And any link to the article

Yeah well... I guess it's times like this when you start to question where the '$1 billion contract' they signed has gone to. It's worth reading their annual report if people are interested (https://www.nrl.com/siteassets/about...eport_2019.pdf).

I haven't yet but at a glance (looking at 2019):
                      - Total revenue of roughly $556 million
                      - From that they had a ~$30 million surplus (on paper... with net assets of $136 million... ~$120 million of which is cash)
                      - Clubs get about 42 per cent of their revenue directly (a large whack of their cash goes into NSW/QLD/NZ-RL [essentially clubs], gameday events, insurance, admin/judiciary, advertising...etc)
                      - Revenue's mostly from broadcast rights (~59 per cent - they say 61 per cent, which might include stuff like online delivery)
                      - Sponsorships provide ~21 per cent of revenue (thus, broadcast rights & sponsorship = 80 per cent)
                      - A little under 1 per cent of their revenue comes from ticket sales
                      [side notes]
                      - Less than 1 per cent comes from the government (presumably attached to indigenous/women's initiatives...etc)
                      - [Brett Morris completed a Cert III in carpentry and a Cert IV in small business last year - didn't realise he's now a chippie... whereas Russell Packer is working towards an MBA at UNSW... go figure!]
                      - Broncos, Cowboys, Doggies and Dragons all lost members (Cowboys - 10.27 per cent). We gained 2.08 per cent. Could be all sorts of explanations for this, but I reckon the best one is that QLD'ers are soft, fair weather fans (except for Titans fans - go figure).

Obviously this is just a high-level skim read of it but I think we can be confident that:
                      - There's $120m in the bank plus assets. I don't think they should aim to spend all of this but I mean... I doubt the NRL will die! The money's there, they've just gotta decide which savings to make. From my observation, Greenturd's already skimping on razor blades and shaving cream. That's a start...
                      - They kept roughly 25% of their revenue in the bank from 2019 (on paper not bad IMO).
                      - They make less than 1% of their revenue from live games, so having no games isn't a massive blow to their bottom-line.

                      What worries me is that:
                      - Clubs are used to getting $220m a year. There is only $120m in the bank. The knife will need to come out and hard decisions will need to be made.
                      - The hidden story is that QLD/NSW/NZ-RL all get disbursements. To me the message of 'we will get Origin' is basically telling these bodies that they'll get a paycheque this year. Realistically they might not, which could destroy a lot of the game's feeder systems...etc.
                      - We dunno what's gonna happen with COVID-19 so it's difficult to make solid plans about spending from the warchest.

                      Could be good/bad:
                      - They're increasingly relying on broadcast revenue... it's gradually creeping up as a percentage of their revenue (which is arguably an issue of over-reliance on Fox in particular). The good news with this is that their main source of cash may still deliver during this period. But yeah, bad news that the NRL hasn't really diversified or invested in anything (i.e. say Fox died tomorrow with everything going online, the NRL could see a massive drop in revenue/viability).
                      - Their surpluses have been pretty small. While admin expenses have gone down as a percentage of the total bucket of cash, we're spending more than ever on admin. IMO only an insider would really know what that means. Could mean that the tech for the bunker + tech staff cost $$$. Could mean more bottles of Grange, Dannemann cigars, hookers and cruises around town in 770 (W150) cabriolets.

I use my bosses SCG members tickets so my membership is a donation, it’s the Flexi membership $100 which I’m lucky enough that I can get by without. If their are members who have paid big money for membership & for some reason they need money then I think they should be entitled to a refund.

I will be keeping mine, I work in a newspaper printing factory and still work everyday as usual but for those not lucky enough as me to still be employed I have no problem with them cancelling.

If I was to lose my job, sorry but if it meant me keeping my family or the roosters finically afloat my family comes first and that would be the same with everyone.

not asking for a refund from my end. I'm pretty lucky in terms of jobs security so will purchase some merchandise to support in a small way to our club during this difficult period.

Maybe the NRL was living in a fool's paradise.
It was likely all going to end in tears one day.
                                'One day' is here.
Excess to the max it seems...while the $12m due to the Players Association hasn't been paid. It resembles businesses not paying workers superannuation into the funds on time.

Players' contracts [salary cap] will probably fall back to what's affordable, after all the bills have been paid, and the place run properly.
The best players will always earn the best money.
David Fifita is on track to be one of the best.
