  • Our weaknesses for 2020?

In such an awesome team there aren’t that many real weaknesses but I think we still have a few that will be Trent’s job to fix.

Im really concerned about our goal kicking. We win a lot of games on defense with very few points in it. A consistent or inconsistent goal kicker can mean the difference between a top 4 and a top 8 spot for us. It is an essential ingredient which I feel will test us this year.

The next one is possession. We are forever defending and coming out of our own half going for long periods without any ball due to errors and penalties. With the little possession we do have a lot of it’s in our own half. This is another area we struggle in constantly even though we’ve won back to back in both premiership and world club champion titles. Repeat sets would go a long way to remedying this.

Would love to see Josh Morris in the team as I believe he’s a much better player than traitor in that he will put in 100% for many more than traitors few games in a season.

So goal kicking and possession are for me what we need to work on most. What are you guys thoughts?

PS: Don’t anyone forget. We are the ENVY of the NRL having 2 back to back trophies in 2 years and we are the first to win the double back to back crowns and no one can ever trump that.

Giving away penalties on the 4th tackle or whilst in possession of the ball has made us defend more than we’ve needed to.

In order of concern for me...
      - Left centre's still unsorted (we have gone from having the best in the comp to nothing).
      - Goal kicking (continues... we never seem to have 4-5 decent kickers like everybody else).
      - New halves combo combined with the loss of Cronk.
      - Depth. IMO the Newcastle game showed that our reserves have absolutely nothing...

I think there were a couple of players outside our 17 who didn't play.
But it is a bit harsh saying they showed nothing playing in a group of reserve graders up against a fairly strong Newcastle team who I believe are Top 8 certainties.
Put a couple of them in our first grade team and then judge them.

Our weaknesses is obviously goal kicking but give Flanno a chance. He did hit two posts from wide out.

Agree with the halves combo. I think how well Flanno goes, particularly his defense, will be a big part of where we finish.

If we can keep Keary on the field then the rest will fall into place.
I have N0 confidence in our back up halves.

That right there is going to be our biggest single hurdle this year. The NRL didnt want to back to back champs already so going tripple will give them a new sense of vigor to stop us.

I promise we will get some pineapple calls against us this year like never before.

There is next to nothing that we can take away from the trials or the World Club Challenge.

Our key danger area for me is the halves this year.
We will be relying heavily on one half for the first time in years. We've had the benefit of the Cronk-Keary, Maloney-Pearce & Carney-Pearce combos steering the ship in recent years. No longer.

Keary will have the biggest bullsye you've ever seen on him this year. He will be orchestrating so much of what we do.

Keary is just another head knock away from another long stint on the sidelines. I have no doubt it will happen at some point this year, and early retirement is a real possibility given how the medicos are treating situations like his these days. Best case scenario is a 6 week rest.

Flanno is green. While he has potential, he does not have the maturity to organise, goalkick and steer the team around to the level our fans have become accustomed to. The fans have to be prepared for this, and have to be prepared to back Flanno long term and give him the benefit of the doubt. But, it's not going to be all smooth sailing.

Beyond that, our depth is barely worth talking about.
Hutchison does not offer enough to be a permanent half at first grade level.
Lam is not first grade quality from what we've seen

Our greatest weakness is the light beer they serve at The SCG.

You just need to be patient. After about 20 of them you start to get a slight buzz.

The amount of dumb penalties and dropped ball we do is ridiculous

                          Why?
Flanagan is a good goal kicker & so is SST.
Dont tell me you have come up with this assumption after 1 game.

Yes. Enough to win the last two premierships. You keep your glass half empty BB cause you’re very entertaining.
