    Chook.
You bring up a good point there Chook, but i wonder, what would Smith have done with a player like fletch, late onto the scene in relation to first grade, does smith's take have an age limit?

i.e. under 25 with less that 100 games for example.

I think thats the point made. Age has nothing to do with it.

Excellent report. Very interesting and loved the Rothfield part - really cracked me up! Only have to wait about another 3 and half months till kick off now!

i was thinking the same thing but that said, pearce for e.g is only a season and a bit off that and i highly doubt we will be releasing him at the end of next year in fact i think its safe to say that we would never do that. i think the point that was being made was more the fact that yes our average age is very low 20s, but a lot of them fit in the 50 - 150 games bracket so we should still be competitive

            thanks for the great report

Kennedy certainly remains a worry, hopefully that foot injury doesn't rob him of a promising career

good to hear the team working on second phase play, that was really lacking until Ryles/Takarangi started during our win streak in the last 4weeks

it kills me to hear Smith say we don't have any good young 6/7's coming through, makes the decision to offload Jacob Miller even more frustrating.

in a couple of years we could have several sets of brothers in the top grade squad

            Mitchell/Nathan Aubusson
            Sam/Llyod Perrett
Lama and his two younger brothers

and then maybe a couple of Tuivasa/Shecks

It generally takes more than three seasons to rack up 100 first grades games especialyl when you factor in injuries. Pearce is only just getting there (or just over) and he's into his fifth season next year. Plus he specifically said 50-150 games and just to add (which I didnt mention early) quoted O'Sullivan when mentioning it - sounded more like he agreed with him and didnt actually come up with the theory.

it makes sense coming from o'sullivan - he would use that as his general guide for when to recruit players. pearce passed 100 this year and he is only 22. even if it takes him 3 more years to pass 150, he will only be 25 - hardly the age to be shafted thats all

that and the fact players in their first season or 2 often bounce in and out of first grade.. It is generally 5 seasons at least.. As Chook pointed out.. more football content than a season of Rothfield.. in fact more than this place too lol..

Would be interested to see a list of > 150 game players in the NRL.

100 to 150 sounds about right to me. Of course there will be particular players who, generally due to class or durability, will play more.

Said he wasnt a huge organiser and doesnt have a long kicking game but takes the line on and has a great offload (which the team is focusing on big time) plus super short kicking game. Goes to the line with ball in two hands and great at slipping pass or making a sneaky break.
Going on that, Daniel Mortimer is the new John Simons. And he is a halfback, whereas Pearce isn't and he's also played at 5/8th which Braith Anasta is a piss poor shoehorned one at best.

I hope Daniel doesn't get too used to wearing the tricolours, he won't want to stick around behind those two putzs.

Have you figured out uploading the pics? Imageshack.us can be used to upload individual pics then post them on the forum, or you can set up a flickr or something and post a link to the whole album here.
