Stewart is an egotistical wanker, who carries on like a spoilt brat. Besides he is injury prone and severely overrated.

Barba while good in attack is Martin Offiah like in defence (i.e. has none).

Surely we would buy Kris Keating, he is a complete nuffy who would offer our squad nothing.

Sadly R_6, I don't think the people that run the Roosters think we have a poblem at 5/8. I hope I'm wrong

Just to clarify, Ben Barba is NOT a fullback but 5/8th. fullback is a manufactured position for him due to Keating being at the club. If Foran goes to the dogs, we should get Barba and visa versa.

If we are to spend on a decent player it needs to be a 7 or 6, I agree.

id rather go for trhe brothers stewart, theyll want to stay together, always room for another backrower? reminding them of course of injuries and send off behaviour , then make our reasonable offer?

agreed. if we did happen to go after/get brett stewart i would like to see us have glenn join him. we could do with an experienced head and leader in our pack. he is also a good ball player which would make up for our apparent deficiencies and lack of options in attack created by our stable yet uncreative 6. i would prefer this over getting barba. barba is definitely a 1 - his support play and playing style is better suited to 1 than to 6 and his defence at 6 is worse than it is at 1 and imo, his defence at 1 can be easily worked on/fixed. that said, i would like to see wells/RTS get that shot at fullback or even a massey or another young kid get signed instead. his ego and attitude is not what we want

Those players cleared would be on pie and chip money.. You can't offload those guys for a stack of internationals.. Well you can but it would be with brown paper bags.

yeah true, but if you clear enough that are surplus to needs, you can get enough.....Then again, we know the dogs history regarding the salary cap !

For every player released from the top 25 another needs to be added. Clearing out minimum wage players can't achieve anything. Stewart has stated he will go to the highest bidder.. That will not be cheap.. If 5 guys leave on $100K each and I am being generous about some of those guys and they get Stewart for $500K then what happens to the other 4 slots in the top 25? They have to be filled.. Then there is Foran lol...

On Barba at fullback he seems to have no trouble at all carving us up everytime we play them.

There is absolutely no way they would be under the salary cap with even one of them.
