Letter to Latrell Mitchell

Latrell, the Roosters helped you out massively behind the scenes with a lot of issues this year. Then you and your manager(s) tried to play our chairman for a fool, to squeeze out more money.

Since you were told that you were no longer wanted, the club has upgraded players, meaning we don't have the cap money from 2021.

But Latts ! , you may be able to save the day, and that is by profusely apologising to Nick, Trent, everyone at the club.

The Salary Cap is a moving feast and can be managed. Just apologise and maybe you will be able to remain and become a Roosters legend.

The heading of this thread is at odds with the sentiment of the OP.

You're going to get a few people come on and get stuck into Latrell and saying that he should apologise while he shuts the door on the way out.

Seems like he's little chance to stay even next year, but I for one would love it if he could salvage the situation so, sure, if an apology would work, and if he wants to stay, and Robbo wants him to stay, then I hope that's what happens.

Why do you think a club run properly is looking to offload the best centre in the game a year early when they only have to pay him half of what they value him at - and they are willing to contribute to get rid of him?

I would suggest he has done something wrong to make them want to do that.

SMH reports that the Roosters have paid Mitchell two months of his deal for 2020 which equates to $120k. That puts his 2020 contract at $720k for the year.

No wonder they want him off the books by Jan 1.

Well given that he's turning down about 1.1m per year at the Tigers, and is milking his Roosters contract before eyeing off a contract of less than 800k at Souffs, does that make him an even bigger lying turd than we even thought?

Not sure about that. We made the offer, Latrell said he wanted to see what else was out there, we withdrew the offer almost immediately.

We offered him 1.6m after he'd allegedly been talking to other clubs. What you're saying would only make sense if L told Robbo at that meeting that he'd been talking to Canterbury. That is possible.
