If I'm not mistaken, this decision effectively increases the vermin cap by the amount of burgess' remaining contract that he will be paid even though he is not playing. They then get to spend this money again to "replace" him which means this is a $1.2M advantage conferred upon the vermin again, be it over one year or however many years burgess had left on his contract.
