The ARU has today released half Berrick Barnes from his contract effective immediately.

The star half has signed with the Sydney Roosters for three years starting in 2012. Barnes, who was behind regular pivot Cooper in the Wallaby pecking order, has been frustrated to date with limited opportunities.

ARU Chairman John O'Neill wished Barnes all the best and thanked him for his contributions to Australian Rugby to date.
