  • Manu & Mitchell

Firstly, have you ever seen a better centre pairing at club level?

Secondly, can we afford to keep both long term? Will we?

They're both off contract at the end of 2020.

God I hope we can keep them. The best centre pairing I have ever seen at club level and they are both so young. It would be heartbreaking to lose either one.

Yep, would love them to be one club players.

Don't know who we will keep or lose but with Cronk retiring, being replaced by a guy on maybe 300k, you'd figure we have a good shot at keeping everybody.

Where will Billy Smith fit into the team moving forward ? I think the club has a huge opinion of him and i dont think they will get into a bidding war to keep Manu or Mitchell knowing they have him ready to go. I am not saying they wont want to keep our gun centres, of course they do, i just think Smith is a great back up plan at a fraction of the cost if they lose one

The club should say to any player considering moving:
Do you want win premierships? Because, we do

Or would you be happy taking the cash, winning occasionally and playing at an average club where you might snag an individual award like the Dally M.
          See Roger Tuivasa-Scheck

          Its up to you
          ..it’ll be interesting to see

Who would you keep? Assuming Latrell would cost an extra 30-40% per year on the cap...

On value alone I suppose Manu; although Lats goalkicking is very valuable.

Also Latrell has the potential to be a genuine club icon...

Firstly, apologies for the similarity in monikers Easts 75; may have to go away and reinvent myself.

Agree that Billy Smith is going to be very, very good and an able replacement for both but I wonder if we can shed some space somewhere else.
I will probably get smacked down for this, but it is why I would like to see Latrelle given a full off season at 6 with Keary moving to 7 and Smith in the centres next season.

I look at the development of Wighton and think Latrelle trumps him all over the park. Stronger runner, defender, kicker and I believe far better hands and the potential to develop into a
robust ball player. Result : Latrelle more involved and playing where he wants to play. I really saw a lot to like in his stint there last season, just needs a bit more time.

I guess a lot depends on how much we have tied up in Flannagan, Lamb and Walker.

Reports suggest Manu is about to sign a contract extension.

Latrell keeps talking about getting to November 1 and deciding from there, Latrell has also talked about wanting to be out of Rugby League by the age of 30, that would suggest he is going to want to bank as much money as he can on his next contract.

I fully support Latrell chasing whatever money he can get, Rugby League is a business and he has to look after his young family.

Still hold out hope that both stay but if one was to leave it will be Latrell.

Latrell won us the premiership the other night, I would keep him every time.

I would keep Manu. Billy Smith will do just fine taking over from Mitchell.

I'm not against Latrell playing 5/8. You'd figure Flanagan, or Lam, probably comes into pre-season in pole position, but Latrell could go alright.

Smith might be good, but for next season you'd figure Ryan Hall will be in front of him. Playing Latrell at 5/8 would mean that we have our best 7 individual backs on the field, all internationals.

I just assume that Billy Smith will be in mine to take over from BMoz/Hall on the wing come 2021.

Never again Latrell at 5/8 , failed experiment .
For me keep Manu and agree Billy smith would fit in fine if Latrell opts to leave , if his heart isn't in it he is better off gone.

not really related to this but apparently - according to Dean Ritchie - Souffs might have a crack at Ryan Matterson
