  • Htf do these journo dikheads..........

Know that the Raiders will have a 70-30 crowd advantage????? It seems to me these arseh0les will put our club down at any opportunity. What an insult to our fanbase. Last year Homebush was full of Roosters fans and now these fwits just willy nilly presume that we will be outnumbered 70-30. They can all go and **** themselves. I hope we win by 50 on Sunday.

It's pretty crazy mate and the fans jumping aboard the Green Machine doesn't surprise me but the commentators do a bit. I guess they are mainly jealous ex players from other clubs though.

Couple of interesting yarns in today's Tele...one was Mark Bouris hitting the shit that is the anti Easts sentiment mostly based on falsehoods. The other was Buzz did a lineup of the current market value of both clubs and naturally both were over the cap. But he made the argument of why players stay at Easts for less $$.

If anyone has links it would promote discussion on here. The anti News Ltd paranoia brigade miss some good articles.

No respect, absolute guttersnipes. Like Gus said, no ones been b2b for a long time, so it's a special time in itself. It's not like we did it a couple of years back, odds are it was eventually going to happen at some point for a team. It's not the end of the world.

The best thing our team can do is flog Canberra on Sunday. Replicate our first half against souffs and our 2nd half against Newcastle at the SCG should do it.

I haven't heard one of these fwits acknowledge what a great team the Roosters are. I only ever hear negative things from them, pricks.

totally agree, seriously i can tolerate some of it, an underdog fairytale is nice. but seriously , the hate is getting a bit much, i dont hear this same hate for the all blacks, great aussie cricket teams, broncos of the 90s just respect. why cant they just acknowledge this is a special team, instead of the constant sniping and undermining of our achievments.

It would be the same if Canberra were playing Melbourne or Souths, its the fairy tale underdog story & if the Raiders werent playing the Roosters then most on here would be going for them.

I couldn't give a rat's about the fairytale rubbish, it's the disrespect that our club continually cops from the imposters that masquerade as the media. As I said, we'll do our talking on Sunday.

High-profile Sydney Roosters director Mark Bouris has launched a tirade against vitriolic critics of his club, declaring: “We put up with a lot of shit.”

Bouris described as unfounded the innuendo over his club’s spending on players, saying: “We don’t breach the salary cap.”

And he said the Roosters were victims of tall poppy syndrome after a Daily Telegraph poll on Monday revealed just one in three fans who don’t have a team in the grand final are cheering on the Tricolours.
“You have to put up with a lot of shit when you’re a successful club and sometimes I do get short-tempered with all the jibes, particularly when I hear it from some people in the media,’’ Bouris said.

“It’s the tall poppy syndrome, totally. Every time someone has a crack at us, it only galvanises our own fans. That’s all we care about. Controversy builds brands.”

Critics of the Roosters take aim at their so-called “salary cap sombrero”, accusing them of spending more money than anyone else on their roster.

“There are some notable Queensland media personalities, ex-footballers, who often have a crack at us in relation to our salary cap,’’ Bouris said.

“The bottom line is we don’t breach the salary cap, otherwise we would have been in trouble for doing it.
“All the shit we put up with, winning would be an amazing reward for the club. It’s a form of admiration in some respects — a backhanded admiration.

“On the flip side, I often feel that a lot of the clubs that don’t get criticised are usually the clubs at the bottom of the list.

“Probably us and Melbourne are the most hated clubs and, funnily enough, we are two of the most successful clubs, statistically.

“Maybe we have to just cop it on the chin because it goes with the territory. That’s the best way to put it.

“If it goes with the territory, then I’m happy with that because if it means our club will be up the top, then that makes me happy.
The Roosters were miffed at two cheeky cracks at them on the Raiders’ website on Tuesday.

Canberra offered up 10 reasons to support their club.

Among them was a headline about the Bondi club’s modest fan base, accompanied by a photo of an empty SCG Members Stand.

There was also a not-so-subtle dig at Roosters chairman Nick Politis on social media, nicknamed the Salary Cap Sombrero.

It read: “Two caps are better than one sombrero. With the return of (assistant coach) Andrew ‘Cappy’ McFadden to the Raiders ranks, the Raiders have two caps in 2019.”
Asked if he wanted an end to his club being bashed, Bouris said: “Nah, keep doing it.

“We are only interested in the people who love us and who are our fans. We don’t really care about the rest.

“All it does is galvanise our own fan base. You can’t please all the people all the time. We just want to please our own fans.

“I have confidence in the players, team, coach and the coaching staff. I have confidence in the club.

“It’s like an ecosystem of support all round. Everything they need to have going into the grand final is there for them to use.”

Bouris, who is the founder of Wizard Home Loans and now chairman of finance company Yellow Brick Road, reserved special praise for Politis and Roosters coach Trent Robinson.
“There is one person on our board who really stands out over and above everybody and that is our chairman, Nick,” Bouris said.

“He is close to all the players, texts players, he helps players, he mentors them and helps them personally if they are in trouble.

“He is prolific in his output toward our team and coaching staff. Nick knows every single inch of the track.

“How many grand finals have we played in, how many have we won and how many minor premierships have we won?

“There’s one common denominator during that whole time and it’s Nick Politis.”

“Robbo is right up there. I have had experiences with a lot of coaches at the Roosters. In terms of intellect and strategising, Robbo is one the best coaches I have ever seen.

“I experienced all the great NSW coaches when I sponsored NSW and Robbo is as good as any of them. He is right at the very top.”

Water off a duck's back. None of em really care if Canberra win or not - they're just getting on the bandwagon. If we win I suspect they will praise us.

Buzz's story supporting our salary cap has strangely gone. Guess it doesn't support the current agenda.

                            Found it,

The Sydney Roosters are worth almost $2 million more than the NRL salary cap … but it doesn’t mean they are cheating.

An analysis of the talent in both grand final sides reveals the Roosters have a squad that would be worth more than $11.4 million if their players were on the open market.

The NRL salary cap this year is $9.6 million.

However there are genuine reasons why the defending premiers have a more valuable side than most of their rivals, not just the Raiders.

                            ● Players will take “unders” to play and learn under super coach Trent Robinson, the same as they would to play under Craig Bellamy at Melbourne Storm.

                            ● Player agents will send players to Moore Park because of the strong culture which has been led by first Sonny Bill Williams, then Cooper Cronk and Kangaroos captain Boyd Cordner.
                            ● Players will take “unders” to play at a successful club to play finals football and win premierships.

                            ● Players will also take ‘unders’ to play at winning club to increase their State of Origin and international selection chances. (Players get $90,000 to play in an Origin series.)

For years the Roosters have been accused of rorting the cap but a proper analysis also reveals they are sharper at recruitment and develop players better than most of their rivals from under-18s.

An incredible 23 of the top 30 squad have been at the club since under-20s.

The Daily Telegraph has valued the Roosters team at $1.5 million more than the Canberra Raiders.

Champion fullback James Tedesco is an example of a player prepared to accept less money to win premierships rather than struggle at the Wests Tigers.

He is valued at $1.2 million but is only being paid around $900,000.

He went to the Roosters to become a better player under Robinson ahead of Ivan Cleary.

He went to a club run by Nick Politis because it was more appealing than working for Marina Go and Justin Pascoe at the time.
Centre Latrell Mitchell is another good example. He could get up towards $1 million-a-year at a club like the Canterbury Bulldogs but the Roosters won’t go anywhere near that amount.

In the national capital, coach Ricky Stuart had the opposite problem when he first arrived.

Before this year, when they were no so competitive, he had to pay “overs” to convince players to move to the nation’s capital.

It was then he decided to build his side around the best English players, who were already used to the cooler climate in Canberra and just wanted an opportunity to play NRL.

Sam Ayoub is one of the longest serving player agents in the game.

He knows the market better than most and the reasons why the Roosters can attract the best players.
“They are a successful club,” he says, “They have a very strong board, senior management, coaching staff and quality leaders,” Ayoub said, “That’s what makes the culture great and appealing to football players.

“It’s a fact players will sign there for less. Say eight players took $100,000 less to play there, they’ve saved $800,000 in the cap compared to what another club would spend.”

He says the Raiders will get the same benefits from making the grand final and having a leader of the calibre of Ricky Stuart.

“Ricky’s created a great culture and it’s a far more appealing football club than it was when he first started,” Ayoub said, “He won’t have to pay as much as he used to for the best players.”
