  • Bears vs Panthers on 9Gem 1pm

Sitili, Farmer, Kep, Lam, Hutch, Ikuvalu all playing. Youngsters Lussick, Jackson and Butcher on the bench.

Huge game for the Bears. A loss and top 4 spot probably gone.

Looks like Ikuvalu is done for the year with a fractured cheekbone/eye socket via a nasty head clash.

Great to see the first grade team out watching the bears play , further proof of the solidarity amongst our ranks.

I'm watching this game via the Nine app in BNE that is supposed to show QLD channel Nine but for some reason is giving me NSW...I wont complain.
Is that O'Brien sitting there looking who's he going to take to the knights?

Great half of footy by the Bears. Smaller but running and tackling harder and pretty sharp.

Kepaoa showing his skills , some great touches by Lam. Strong for a little tacker. Freebairn and Deitz good too.

Ikuvalu gone to hospital hope he's ok. On report too!

          Keep it going lads.

Meanwhile in Melbourne...Storm 0 Titans 8... Mathematically we can still get the Storm to the MP...with For & Against like last year!

42-24 Bears win in the end.

Panthers hit back strongly with all possession in the first part of the 2nd half, and Bears starting front row on the bench.

But the ship was steadied and they ran out deserving convincing winners in the end. Drew Hutch controlled the game and lead by example plus 8 goals! He was the Bog but Bears didn't have a bad player.

From a future viewpoint I can see AJ Kepaoa and young Egan Butcher being very handy players.

Think that puts Bears 4th or 5th.

              Stand Aside.

P.s a great gesture by Robbo and the boys to turn up and watch. No doubt that helped motivate the boys to their best win of the year.

I’m pretty sure Penrith smashed the Bears at Penrith when they played in the lead up to the recent Roosters V Panthers clash. Well done Bears.

Yeah they got bashed up by Penrith earlier in the year. They were without guys like Hutch, Lam, Sitili and Kepaoa back then, think it was around origin time.

If we rest players over the next two weeks it doesn't help the Bears.

Was walking past sitili talking to Robbo straight after the game finished - Robbo seemed to be asking how his fitness held up over 80 minutes

He had a pretty solid workout too. Was marked heavily but smashed into the line as only he knows. Should be good for the run but was understandably a bit ginger walking back to the sheds.

What do you make of the inside centre James Tuitahi, No 4? I've watched him bust the line a few times now.

That's been a feature of his play can certainly bust the line, and pretty good on his feet for a big centre. Has been around this grade with a few clubs but has obviously pleased JT this year playing most of the season. Haven't watched his dee closely enough to comment though.

Roosters winger Matt Ikuvalu had surgery after suffering an orbital (eye socket) fracture in #CanterburyCup last weekend. No specifics on expected recovery as yet, would usually expect somewhere in the 4-10 week range
