Will Friend be better than Verrills? Big risk IMO given how little he's played this season.

It's a moot point because if Jake is fit he will be picked. But you'd like Jake to get a game under his belt before the semis.

Of course Jake will be better than Verills. Sam has done really well but he ain’t threatening Jakes spit in the team anytime soon. Right now Sam is doing only the basics - that’s all he is being asked to do - tackle and give good dummy half service - he is doing this. But Jake also does this and definitely in the tackle department much better - he also chooses when to run from dummy half better which takes pressure off the halves as well as has a good kicking game which again takes pressure off the halves - not that he does it all the time but he does it and just that fact relieves pressure from defences because they have to be ready for it. Sam doesn’t do much running or kicking yet so lacks that element right now. We will be a better team when Jake comes back.

If Jake is fit for the Souths game, then I’d start him. If not, I’d have him off the bench in week one of the finals. We don’t want him to go into a finals match and start throwing a million forward passes.

Never question Boyd’s commitment to this club. He backed up from origin very well this year and it’s pretty obvious he plays regularly with injury. Yes he is committed to NSW but that doesn’t override his Roosters commitments.
