  • Great time to be a rooster

Crikey I’ve met and or read some interesting material from rooster tragics over the last 25 years

Personally I cannot recall a better time to be a fan of the chooks
    We have a great team
    We have a great coach
    We have a solid future

    Fluffy. Yes

    Totally.

Although I still have a soft spot for the Kurt Sherlock, Hugh Macgahan, David Trewhella, Craig Salvatore, Rod Silva days when we literally could not make the 5. Loved heading to the stadium with my free pass (all primary school kids had one), finding a discarded program and reading the names in Reserve Grade and President’s Cup and all that.

It made the early Gould/Sing/Elsegood/Fittler/Gourlay years even more special.

Who’d have thunk we’d become the premiere club (along with Melbourne). Only sad part is that Souths have managed to also step it up.

Souffs have one tainted premiership in 50 odd years. Stuff em. They are irrelevant.

Between 1984 to about 1995 was a good time to follow the Roosters because it made you appreciate how good the times have been since Robbo took over.

That’s another way of saying what I meant. Good call.

It was a simpler time and in some ways a lot more satisfying. Less stress!

It's always a great time to be a rooster fan !
I agree with you in that going through tough times makes the good times even sweeter . I've got Souths mates who had followed them their whole lives and had never seen them win until 14. We had a drought of 27 years and when Freddie and the boys finally cracked it in 02 it was the best feeling I've had as a chook supporter and I'll doubt it will ever be surpassed.

Admittedly I was a bit too young to remember in detail the early nineties. Other than watching games with the old man. The super league years and onwards is from where I can remember in detail. I saw Freddie in person for the 1st time in 96 outside the sfs when he signed an autograph for my cousin and was like wow! From that moment he became my favorite player.
That 02 GF is still up there as my favorite sporting moment. At the time as a fifteen year old seeing it happen for the first time was like watching your team win the WC. It was extra special for my dad as it was the second time (and unfortunately the last time) he got to see a Roosters premiership since 75 when he migrated to Aust. He stayed loyal all those years. Obviously i was over the moon in 2013 and celebrating the win last year for the 1st time with my young daughter was awesome, but they weren't the same as 02 when I got to watch a Roosters premiership with dad

I recall my old school motto here..."The virtue is in the struggle, not the prize".

It sure is a great time. My next favourite era was 1977 to 1982. My formative years. I was 9 in '77 and already falling head over heels in love for the game. Fairfax, Schubert, Wright, Boustead, Hastings, the Cleal brothers, Elbows Harvey, etc.
