I don’t feel sorry for them at all. I have been deathriding those scumbags ever since their disgraceful tactic of laying down for penalties. They are nothing without that tactic and they are getting what they deserve.

Fair point but I feel sorry cos they lost to Souffs in those circumstances last night. That's a fate worse than death....

Gould has brought that up a few times this season. No-one is doing it more than the media's darling Cameron Murray. He has made an art form out of it. The guy Andrew Johns is already picking to captain NSW and Australia. It's only going to be a matter of time before some big hitter sorts Murray out. via an invite pay.

Meantime Souths are sailing along on this same tactic that worked for them, and the refs, so well in 2014. It's not so much a matter of exposing the obvious. More of allowing a reasonable time in the tackle. And also applying the same rule against Souths that is so enthusiastically embraced against their opponents. Otherwise this comp could end in plenty of controversy and that's the last thing the NRL want while trying to clean up their image.

              The "fast play the ball".

Yep. Everyone wants it. The interpretation by the refs is far and away the most subjective part of the game.

Riddle me this batman - what exactly is the role of the third tackler, after the tackle is completely effected by another 2 players already smothering a tackled player on the ground, then flopping on top of the other 2 defenders, many times also helping roll the already tackled player over and backwards? The 3rd flopper then takes his time peeling off before the other 2 sequentially peel off eventually. Why isn't this a penalty every single time?

Other side of the coin - Michael Gordon was binned tonight for making a great round the legs tackle (remember that kind of tackle?) The kind Ron Coote and Bunny Reilly made their trademark? The kind that was encouraged before Melbourne and others brought in the "wrestle"?

Because Gordon held on to the legs for several microseconds, rather than holding his arm around the neck in a chokehold, or compressing the tackled player's head into the ground for a couple of seconds with his elbow (which seems to be perfectly legal), he is ejected from the game.

Yep, I know, why do I even follow the game if I think it's so stupid and unfair. I suppose it's because I've followed the roosters too long.

It is stupid though. He who cheats best wins.

Well the ‘media darling’ bit is a bit harsh. The guy is a very good clean player. He’s not a Grub and if he is getting away with it it’s more has to do with the refs, yet I don’t see us doing that so it’s bad on us for not exploiting that rule. As for the media darling bit, well other fans will say that Tedesco is the media darling or Latrell or Keary... If Murray gets the media talking on a positive note then good on him though I wish he wouldn’t be playing for that scummy club.

Very insightful. I have seen the same punishment for the round the legs tackle a micro-second too long. I think the refs have gone overboard on this, because it is not consistent. Some of those three in the defense tackles take over several seconds to peel off.

Juts a pity that coaches will search for every which way to cheat and exploit a rule change, instead of together incorporating it into the modern game.

As for 'media darlings'. I m applying this term to someone who has just arrived on the scene late last season and is now being nominated as a captain of Australia. He's also arrived coincident with a rule change that totally suits his size and speed. There is no comparison with a player like Tedesco, who has been delivering for the hapless Tigers and then NSW for years now. He deserves some kudos.

I have always thought the kid Murray was a talent but there's a fair bit of hyperbole happening here. Typical = from the kings of it....the Johns Bros. Different year, different rule interpretation, he may not be such a sensation. But yes a player I would't knock back, but we have Radley.
