  • How good? Daniel Tupou coming of age!

How good is it to see Toops crashing the ball back, bending and breaking the line? How good is it to see Toops brimming with confidence, showing some real and raw emotion and just a touch of aggression too? Tossing the ball skyward after scoring against the Knights. Letting out a roar of delight at full time. I couldn't be happier with how he is going. Great to see and much credit to the big fella. I think he is coming of age, right before our eyes.

Another plate of humble pie for me and it has to be said, plenty of others too. Keep those pies coming Toops. I've got a big appetite.

He lost his mojo in origin a few years back after copping a typical queersland dog-shot. Good to see him growing in confidence, skill and strength.

How good was that reaction after he scored the last try in his 150th game. Didn't see that much emotion in his past 149 games.

He's really gone up another gear this year, awesome player. Awesome clubman.

I hope he stays with us for the rest of his career, a great player and a genuinely friendly guy.

He ain’t going anywhere. He absolutely loves the club and has resigned for unders a couple of times already.
He has taken over from where Fergo left off.

Always loved Toups even through the darker times.

I reckon Robbo has done a great job of making it clear what he wants from wingers and maximising their metres.

Something I've said a few times is:
                - The role has changed to one that resembles a lot of attack-focussed power forwards. However, you instead get 80 minutes out of them and a lot more speed when they bus tackles.
                - IMO this is more realistic and maximises stats. Gone are the days of wingers being able to say 'I ran 10m because we didn't get any attacking opportunities or ball on that side of the field'. Instead they're coming into the middle, calling for the ball and grabbing metres even on ordinary days.

The 4 years after his breakout 2013 season he failed to improve.....and i was very ready to bag his performances and did so. I couldn't understand why he wasn't a weapon and a lot of the times a liability with his cross field running, poor ball playing in his own quarter and defensive errors. I didn't get why he wasn't as good as Vunavalu who has similar attributes.

2018 was the turning point and he really got his shit together-finally he was playing as the alpha winger and he looked confident in everything he did. This year he has gone up a few levels on that- runs straight, hard and fights to make post contact metres. He looks confident again in the air and his defensive reads are so much better-he stays on his opposite winger a lot more now. Im loving his aggression and attitude- i think he now knows that he is the most dominant winger in the comp and he aint going to let it slip. Keep it going Toops!!!!

I was disapointed last week after the knaughts game. I thought 2poo would have got the motm.
it is a rare thing for the Roostets to wn a milestone game.
                      Well done to 2poo

Tupou deserves maximum praise for his efforts this year. He has been one of our top 3 players in every game this year.

I’m especially proud of his 100% efforts in our losing games when it felt like a lot of his teammates had decided to give themselves their own “Robbo-rest” (Tedesco Is also included in this category).

The biggest improvement in Tupou’s game is his post contact metres, he is really bending the line. The days of Tupou being lifted and driven back 5 metres are (almost) a distant memory.

Full credit to Tupou for working on his game.

He worked hard at improving his game, he knows now to always run hard and also pick where he runs - in between players so he isn't picked up. He has also cut out a lot of the drops and silly offloads at the play the ball

150 games and 2 premierships for the chooks - legend. Hope he makes it 200+

Love Toops he has been so good for us since our charge to the title in the finals last year. He has always been willing to get back and take that brave hit up to start our sets . His a great finisher too on the best edge in the game and as another bonus is fantastic in the air . His going to end up scoring a lot of tries for the roosters in his career.

Love the guy but, with his height, if the opposition decide to number up on him and force him back, he has a very hard time. Souths and the Raiders really trouble him.
