  • Coops

Had a chance meeting with Cooper Cronk on Saturday morning at a Mosman cafe. What a stellar human. He was there with his little boy and other family members. Humble as they come...happy to chat...interested in having a conversation. There are dozens of players in the NRL that should look to Cooper on how to conduct themselves on and off the field. Worth every cent we pay him!

Nice story. Cronk is indeed one debonair individual. He should have been a Rooster for life as he was too good for Smith and Bellamy.

I sincerely hope he stays on as a coach for years like Fitzy.

My brother had a similar experience bumping into Coops in Melbourne in his final year with the Storm. Absolute gentleman and professional.
I hope he stays put in Sydney and is associated in any way with our club for many years to come. Ditto for Ryan Hall - he's a very intelligent man!

He is such a gentleman and intelligent and courageous competitor HOWEVER how bad were the broncos fans booing him that loud when he was binned. OK I'm not one about having issues about booing like some AFL player drama queen about turning booing into racism, but Cooper having been such a great QLD hero and for what an innocuous incident, where cry baby Darius was at his petulant best, I would have thought that that level of booing him was a little OTT! ...The again a white male being booed...maybe that was racism and sexist.

Yeah, ROC181 I reckon most of that booing was a bit 'tongue in cheek'. Cooper seemed to enjoy it and I think he knew where it was coming from. Agree regarding the hysteria you are referencing in AFL. Bloody ridiculous and such a long bow for people to draw between booing and racism.

PS - people don't boo 'nobodies'. In a round about way, it's a compliment.

Thanks for sharing that story Bigrooster. Very glad Cooper is a Rooster.

You pay your money, you can boo who you want. We booed Billy Slater during the GF.

Noted Joey said he had the 'feels' that Coops was going to play on next year. I hope he does.

Yeah but Slater was no hero of us plus the shenanigans that went on the week before the gf to get him
to play brought that on to him but you’re right that if you’re out there on the field fans are allowed to boo. Mind you if this happened in the AFL, there would be headlines in all the papers and a big conversation topic in all the shows like there is at this moment. Maybe that player who brought up the racism comment back then should watch how Cooper took it and get a reality check!

                        Fair enough.
One thing I liked about the booing is that to the Qlders, Coops is a Rooster more than a Qlder.

Before the Storm game he said in an interview ‘I used to be at the Storm but I’m now a Rooster through and through!’ So stick that up Smithy!

They boo with one head and cheer with the other.
