I was a fan of Todd in the RWNB in 2010, It was a culmination of an unknown quantity in the new Roosters and Todd playing 1 and 6 that got us to the GF. The oppositions NRL teams struggled to work the roosters out in attack, Bennet however worked out that Todd could be shut down defensivley. In 2011 the other NRL teams also shut Todd down and unfortunatey he had nothing to counter this, Crabbing sideways wasn't working, they also worked out that Todd was a week link in our defense and ran there attack at him. IMO 2012 will be a good year for our Nrl squad a preseason will only make them better. Smith has found some good ball playing backrowers who can get over the line and set up tries and our forwards have finally got some mongrel.IMO Anastas time in the forwards has also helped his game. The Roosters will do well in 2012 and we will not miss Todd.. I WOULD RATHER A CHAMPION TEAM ! THAN A TEAM OF CHAMPIONS!

I disagree. Our biggest problem this year has not been the form of Todd Carney. In a season of slower play-the-balls we needed to adapt and provide our halves with better attacking options. Instead we persisted with the slowest outside backs in the competition and expected Carney to work miracles.
Go back and watch the earlier storm game and see how many opportunities Carney created only to have other players drop the ball with the line wide open, and outside backs that were too slow to run around massive overlaps. It was just like previous years with the opposition compressing their defence and us being too useless to do anything about it.

The last few matches, the tattoo ban during the season from now on, the new 'high performance unit', plus Elliott's arrival give me some hope.
Not sure that signing a new 5/8 and playing Anasta in the forwards is such a great idea.
Thought that was part of the reason Carney was waved goodbye...so the captain could play no 6.
Maybe the new 5/8 isn't arriving until 2013.

And I think that the stability of the "set" team in the last 4 weeks this year showed.
Personally, a game breaker is a great advantage, but far more valuable to have a team that is comfortable & trusting in each other.
That's when you get the sixth sense play happening. Remember some the magic from last year & blind passes that stuck....they came from players that trusted their mates would be there. That trust wasn't there this year, for a whole lot of reasons.
Hopefully we can keep this rolling along into 2012 & beyond.
