In Fittlers defence, his contract was up for renewal. He never got sacked, his contract expired and was not renewed. that is NOT a sacking

LOL. Splitting hairs there dude. Ask Freddy whether he was sacked. I'm sure he'd say yes. And it was because we had an unsuccessul year, same as all the others. Same as Carney. If we'd won another couple of games and been in the finals, would he be playing this weekend? I say hell yeah, he would have been first picked. He is a scapegoat.

Sorry Ox, have to disagree with you on this one. TC was the worse player in our team this year..a turnstile in defence and zero in attack..I would even go as far as to say he was the worse player in the NRL. We carried him all year because of what he did for us last year when he was the best player in our team and NRL. TC derailed the first half of our season with his poor form and pushing Anasta into second row (which Braith didn't want to know about - confirmed by his stats). It felt like we were playing with 11 men for the first half of the year. The Roosters didn't get going until the penny finally dropped that TC wasn't coming good (this took me, the coach and many other Chookpenners a long time to come to grips with) and we decided to move on. The Roosters were a different team in the second half of the year once they accepted that TC wasn't going to carry them anymore and only then did we start getting some wins.

The future success of our club lies in our emerging, young forward talent - Guerra, Tasi, MK, Mose, Jake, Cordner, Brad T. This is where I see our next premiership coming from. Add in our next big thing, Tau Tau Moga with SKD in centres and I am excited about 2012 and the future. Bring in on the 2012 season. Go Roosters!

So who was the high profile sacking when we missed the finals in 2005? Brett Firman?

2005 was a "rebuilding" year after Freddy retired.

            2001 Graham Murray.

              Another great example.

How was it a rebuilding year? Yes we lost Freddie but the majority of the 2004 GF team were still there and we were strongly favoured to at least make the 8. If any year was supposed to be a rebuilding year I would have said 2007 was. In 2006 we finished 2nd last and were terrible. We had a new coach (albeit not the 1st choice coach) in 2007, new players.

And I'm extremely confident than we made the finals in 2001 so can't see what Murray's sacking has to do with the subject of this thread.

1984 - Laurie Frier was sacked when the club finished second last.
1988 - Artie Beetson was sacked.
1990 - The Roosters sacked Hugh McGahan and Rusty Fairfax
1994 - Mark Murray and Artie Beetson were both sacked.

Easts love to operate as a circus.

                      Since 1995 there was..

The Fittler circus - And it was a damn fine circus I might add..

The Mason circus - Enough said..

The Carney circus - It has ended in tears...Ooh what could have been..

                      What next..???

Of coarse it will be the Sonny Bill Williams circus..

That is how we roll at Easts....Just be prepared....

Stuart, it was time to go. The club knew it he knew it. He is not the sort of person to stay at a club a long time.
Anderson was just past it, a gamble that I thought may work but failed in a big way.
Fittler, well in the end everyone knew he had absolutely no idea. The initial sucess was only due to the opposition not knowing how to play a Fittler coached side. They figured it out coming into the semis and we were cannon fodder from then on.

Murray was the one that I think was truly shafted with a knife in the back. I am not convinced the Roosters would have made the 2 GFs with him in charge, but it was a nasty deed.

I think a lot of the things that happen at the Roosters is due to a desire for results sometimes without an appropriate long term play.
