Obviously the Storm didn't have a lot to play for tonight... and they took the risk to rest some key players.... but seriously who else had the sh!ts with the commentary team talking it up about them losing key players???

hello - we were without Carney and Myles (and regardless of your thoughts both are are rep quality players).... as well as SKD and Perrett. Sure maybe not as big a names as Slater and Smith but still... it wasn't as if the Storm were the only ones not at full strength.

Yeap, the only front rower they will have back next week is Norrie, I think a big team can bash them to death like we did tonight - the Warriors match up really well against them, the Storm better hope they avoid them.

They created 0 line breaks with their starting halves out there, once again because our pack bashed the shit out of them in the ruck and controlled everything.

I don't think they'll win the comp, Tigpies or Warriors for me.

Indeed, and that's not to mention Kennedy and Maubs.

Probably also Bromwich who has been one of their best for much of the season. But I agree that they are unlikely to take out the comp. Manly should be favourites imho. Just getting Foran and Hopoate back into the team they fielded today will make a big difference. I also rate Tigers, Drags, Broncos and Warriors as better chances than the Storm. Cowboys are a rough chance too. Definitely the most open final series for a while.

such a shame to have the current form team in the comp out of the finals, perhaps that was intentional? we proved we can beat most teams on the day! if not for 2 dodgy fwd pass decisions wed be facing melbourne next week! that would have been fun after today?

I was taalking about this to a couple of people after the game and we came to the conclusion.....They won with ALL the star players out during SOO, they should have been capable of winning tonight.

In the end, you can only play what is infront of you. Bellamy probably rested Smith and slater with the hope that if the storm lost, it would not be by much......I don't think he expected a 32 drubbing !

            GO EASTS !!!!

Yeah, don't forget, they were missing Smith (rested), Slater (rested), Manu (rested?), Norrie (rested?), Bromwich (rested?) and Blair (suspended). You can easily criticize and say that Norrie and Bromwich are nothing flash and that Storm lose little in replacing them with Vea and Thompson, but regardless, they have been vital to the team in the same way that Garrett Crossman, Ben Cross, Antonio Kaufusi and other average joe's have been at the Storm over the past years.

Without Smith the filth tactics went out the door to some extent, hence the dominance in the ruck.
In the last few weeks the forwards have been firing.

Smith is more important to them than Cronk and Widdop put together. I still think they will be hard to beat.

And don't forget we were missing Myles, Carney, Perrett, SKD - plus all of our long term injuries.

Without Smith and Slater they are a completely different team but we still flogged 'em.

Exactly. Everyone, including the media, is making a big deal out of the number of players they were missing, but we were missing quite a few too. You can add Aubo, Kennedy, Linnett, and Mitchell to that list too.
