  • stomach wrenching story of Fergo being ordered off the field vs the sharks

Down a man with the scores locked at 6-6, Bernard Sutton’s employee survived an anger-fuelled disaster as Cronulla failed to capitalise on the fortunate advantage.

After spewing profusely for a good minute, the last thing he wanted to hear was that he couldn't come on the field.

Good piece - thanks for posting. I remember when watching it thinking that I'd never seen a player forced to leave the field, and then not allowed to return.

Go fergo. What a year he’s had. His second last game for us will be a cracker. He’ll run 250 metres, kick a few goals, couple of spews. Man of the match.

Its a new rule only introduced this year. Meant to stop a player faking injury in order to bypass the scrum clock rule.

the stupid thing is, the ref has full discretion if they believe the injury is legit to just stop play. Sutton being the world class **** that he is decided Ferguson was not actually in need of any treatment.

That’s actually a soccer rule but the league one seems more credible because in soccer you can waste time by feigning injury and stopping the play, then get up walk to the touch line and get back in seconds.
