  • BS article...

Why do people publish this rot? Sunday Herald has jumped the gun and written the first "Carney is officially sacked" article.

Nothing new... sure it's probably true, but there's nothing new and the author doesn't have any inside word. Muck raker using Carney to make a buck.

We know it's true, Leila M virtually told us, as did other articles, and forumites in the know here did as well.
With Anasta being declared 5/8, for whatever reasons, there was no room for Carney at 5/8 anyway.
The Board obviously made a 'business decision'...having been given an excuse by Carney to sack him.

Hopefully he was paid what he should've been for the 2 years he played here, and not short changed.

Carney will be set free by the Roosters this week and it's my understanding he is comfortable with the decision. Those who know Carney say he has got his head around the idea of going to play rugby league in France for Super League club Catalans. However, his ambition is to stay in the NRL and he is hoping that a rival team will throw him a lifeline. Carney recently said he wanted to be a long-term Roosters player, so naturally he is shattered by the club's decision to terminate his contract.

However, as I revealed in this column recently, coach Brian Smith didn't want him in his team any more after his well-documented off-field dramas. Roosters chairman Nick Politis had been equivocating about whether to keep the former Canberra Raiders star at the Bondi Junction club, but in the end it was the influence of Smith and some senior players that made Carney's position unworkable.

And you wouldn't need too many guesses as to who they are.

Oh well, there's Toddy with his backpack, off to seek his fortune elsewhere.

Cheers for posting the whole article bondi boy...
Yeah not many senior players in our team right now, so guessing is pretty easy.

But... I don't think he's officially been sacked yet? Article seems to have jumped the gun in an attempt to say "YOU READ IT HERE FIRST!!"

Weidler is an absolute crock. He has simply written what is commonly agreed rumour and claimed it as a scoop. Also manages to contradict himself in the article "comfortable with the decision" and "shattered by the decision" in the same paragraph.

I am reminded of the Lapage Glue gun story from Heller's Catch 22.

He's shattered by the decision to terminate his contract but comfortable with the idea of going to play in France.

Of course he might finish up back with the Raiders and "I'm not all that interested" [in signing Carney] Furner.
If I were Furner I'd be very interested in signing him for 2012.

3 years older, 3 years wiser, back home near his mum and the faaamily, back home at the Raiders who didn't excatly set the world on fire this year after Joel left.
The NRL should let Todd go back home to there and play if he can...after all he didn't breach any NRL code of conduct rules but just a club alcohol ban.
