  • Ben Ross

Its my understanding he's still without a club for 2012. I know it might be a bit much with Ryles, but as far as front rowers come on the cheap - especially those who give 100% week in week out, Ben Ross would be a great signing for us. The unsung hero for Souffs imo.

    Thoughts?

He'd be a great signing for a lot of clubs, but not us. We're already reasonably covered in the front row.

The poor bastard is one good shot away from being Christopher Reeve. And I don't know if we can afford the baby mashing for embryonic cells to stick in his spinal cord.

According to his stats he's been good for 13 hit ups, 25 tackles and 110m per game this season. Hasn't missed a game which is very consistent, an area we dearly need with our collection of young and islander props. Could do ALOT worse in replacing Conn and providing more injury backup.

I agree with you. I think he has had a great year. Quite inspirational really considering his injury. Puts his head down and does his job every game. Would be a nice pick up but whether we could fit him is the concern I guess. With Ryles, Kennedy,Tasi, JWH, Mose and Evans and Napa showing promise in under 20's our front row looks pretty full though. However I wouldn't be complaining if he came to us. We could do with his experience.

If we had only a small amount of room under our cap and most other players were out of our reach, then we could do a lot worse than signing him? Depth always gives you that little push to the end.

A very reliable front rower when fully fit, but yea not sure if he's the right fit in our club with ryles already there and all the other wealth of young front rowers we have

but*** if we do have room under our salary cap - he would be a very good signing

He has had a great year considering what he has faced... In saying that, we really do not need any more front rowers at our club

Luke, as the Bunnies proved, you can never have too many forwards.

But he's 30+ and, as I said, one good hit away from being a quaddie.

i would love to say yes but frankly, we have plenty of depth in the prop department for next year and he being an established first grader, is the not the sort of prop we should be after irrespective of price. someone more on the cusp for depth and to lock horns with our youngsters for a spot in the side would be good but i dont think he is for us

Out of all the "sign this guy" and "sign that guy" threads, I find this one the most offensive...

Pfft even though he wears the green and red I have nothing but respect for Ben Ross. His type of character is what clubs are built on.
