  • The stitch up is on

Perenara is determined to penalize us out of this game and get the Faders home, 5 th tackle penalties, allowing them to wrestle and lay all over us, BJ offside every set.

8/3 penalties, 2 of ours inside our own 20, the third with 10 secs to go in the half

we are doing well to be 12 behind

also FFS get SOS on and give Matterson a rest, Cronk needs an option not a plodder

i still think we will win by 20, but fark these pricks will make things hard

The penalty to win the game was rubbish. Tapane had hands ALL OVER the ball in the last play the ball of match. FAR worse than friends. I thought they got away with murder in the rock today

We get pinned every week by every ref for hands on the ball in tackles. There was nothing outrageous there for me to see a stitch up. Every fan out there thinks the same about how the refs are against them. If our forwards were able to make more ground we could have forced more penalties but our small bench if 3 just weren’t enough to trouble them.

That hand on the ball penalty was BS, in the next set Canberra had hands on the ball every tackle.

It is where and when he decided the penalty would come, 8/2 penalties just before half time, they were given 3 5th tackle penalties, we were given penalties in non try scoring positions on the field, Canberra’s were given on half way, gifting them 4 kickable shots at goal, IMO Jakes was a peanalty and a dumb play, however the Faders did the exact same thing for the next 10 minutes and it was play on

                  that is a stitch up

But suggesting it as a stitch up refers that the NRL or refs wants us to lose it for a purpose. Why would they want Canberra to win the game when they’re out. Or do they want the Storm to go back to back? I feel that a reason we usually get less penalties is because we don’t play for penalties. In fact to some here it’s like a badge of honour meanwhile those that play for penalties keep getting them. Either we use the rules to our advantage or keep being the good guys who never lay down or milk for penalties. We’ll be the most virtuous team around and always lose the penalty count. Can’t complaint then.

Apart from a good dose of local legups today, I actually don't think Henry knows the rules of the game.

I think he’s going for a gig at fashion week with his Zoolander expressions when awarding tries. He’s a poser.

It's choosing to scrutinise one side while letting the other get away with everything. Who knows what the motivation is, it's subtle and gets hidden through evening out the count. The penalty on friend and refusal to give the chooks one after that was disgusting.

I didn't see it but winning by 2 when 8 of your points (the majority of your points) came from milked penalties right in front of the sticks ain't pretty. I was there and seeing the whole field summed up how stoopidly controlled the game was. Moments I can think of:
                              - Twice we had momentum and numbers 20m out. Hodgson held down our player until the Raiders could catch up and nothing was done about it (in one case I saw Cordners trademark line for a try was completely open for a 2nd try and this prevented it 100%).
                              - The ground managers have wasaay too much power!!! Every time I watch Canberra games they rig the clock. As soon as the Raiders get ahead they ALWAYS waste time... the clock is never stopped, magically there is no count-down to kick (they call it out ASAP when we are kicking) and it gets silly. The last 3 Raiders v Roosters games I have watched in Canberra they have jigged the timer and won by a fingernail by wasting 10-15 minutes of the second half when we have had momentum and just needed time.
                              - Fake injuries were rampant!!!!! Again they wasted the clock, meant we got no quick play the balls (because we lost momentum when play stopped) and the led to a LOT of gratuitous penalties. Abbey and Hodgson were the biggest 2 grubs. In the first half I was right in front of Abbey when he did a fake head injury. Roosters had the ball and were looking good. No joke this whole head knock thing took 7 minutes off the clock (when Raiders were up but tired), gave the Raiders a rest and resulted in a turnover because they called a gratuitous penalty. THE WHOLE TIME I was yelling out SEND HIM FOR AN HIA!!!! SEND HIM FOR AN HIA!!!! Raiders fans looked back and were like nup, he is fine. I was like well the only complaint I see here is Abbey complaining that his head hurts. If he took a knock to the head then his safety is paramount... call him off for an HIA and play-on with Roosters in possession!!! As soon as the penalty was called, his head was magically fine and there was no question of an HIA.
                              - Raiders last set we were literally pulling them up so that they would play the ball. I would go as far as to say that with his last run, Hodgson shoulda been penalised for contrary conduct (i.e. being pulled up by a player then intentionally going to ground again in order to waste time) and we shoulda had a free boot from in front of the sticks. You can play the ball slowly and legitimately waste time but you cannot intentionally lie down again once you are already on your feet IMO. Food for thought... had the refs showed some spine and called the penalty, he wouldn't have done that again.

I'm not gonna say the refs cost us the game (we shoulda beaten these flogs by 20+) BUT... but... the game was appallingly managed (always is down at Canberra's stupid bush stadium where the locals manage the field) and this made the game absolute shyte to watch because 25-30 minutes of the 80 minutes I paid to watch were spent watching players hobbling around with fake injuries, INTENTIONALLY trying to delay the game. It's a farce and IMO the refs need to do more to stop small town teams that aren't gonna make the 8 from intentionally doing this every time we play them on their home turf. They always just try to waste time and spoil the ball because they know we have their measure if they play properly.
