Aha well, those double standards work both ways.

We win and "you blokes" give him no credit. We lose and it's his fault.

Who's right? We'll find out after GF day.

Cronk played a great game today. His role is primarily to organise, link and keep structure in attack and defence. If you want to see a player who dominates the attacking stats then check out Luke Keary because thats his job

If we make the grand final, then he has already done his job.

I think it was quite clear that Cronk took a back seat to Keary & Friend today.

Keary has really stepped up his game to another level in the last month or so, he's playing a lot more first receiver and really dictating our tempo of play. That ball to Cordner shows a real understanding of first receiver play that we haven't seen from him before.

This is not just exciting for this year, but for the next 5 years moving forward.

I thought it was Cronk's best kicking performance of the season, granted he didn't kick much from within our own half which is where he has struggled this season but our transitions in sets was superb all day.

Cronk just isn't a strong enough ball player to demand touching the ball more than he did today, we got the balance right. It was the best performance in whole by our spine this season.

I think being around the origin side has done Keary the world of good even if it was just for training. He looks like he has got his confidence back and he is the catalyst for a lot of our attack. Cronks there to guide us around the park and to calm us down where we have had a tendency to panic in tight situations in the past.

Im totally with you with this. Keary is the man who the Roosters need firing if they are going to make a dent into this years premiership. Cronk needs to play his natural game and take a back seat.... like he did with Scott Hill, Gareth Widdop, Cameron Munster and Jonathon Thurston in SOO

I totally agree with you on this one mate.

Cronk and Keary are really starting to complement eachother well and the improvement of Luke will benefit us for this year and at least the next 5 - 6 years, great times ahead.

JT said a year or so ago that the reason he likes to play with Cooper is because he doesn’t try to overplay his hand and allows and encourages others in the team to step up and knows when to inject himself.. It's not all about him ...Well what incisive words from one future immortal. For anyone that noticed, after our first try and Mitchell missing the conversion, we had a penalty in front of the posts not long after and Cooper told Friend to keep the pressure on and take the tap. That's great organising by a champion and award winner. We don't need him to grab the headlines...we need him to organise Friend and Keary and that's what he's trying to do.

I like the way you guys are spinning it with Cronk essentially playing onfield coach - but is that what we want from a half back? No doubt his kicking game is his greatest asset, that cross field banana was magic but what about all of the other tricks he used to play at Melbourne? Slick inside passes, chip over the top, lob over to the winger in midfield? Granted yesterday he did not have to get too involved as everybody else seemed to click - it just would be nice to see him play to his full ability with us and not seem so hesitant all the time.

I think that comes with being familiar with the team and its structures. They have spoken all year about getting their basic structures right so when they break out of structure, they have something to fall back on without thinking about it.... Having said this, he is clearly a step slower this year which would inhibit some of his ability to take the line on. But he plays to his strengths and knows his game inside out.

But, regardless of his supposed flaws... I still feel a lot more comfortable watching our team this year as I have at any time MP was the half. His coolness makes me relax at the ground rather than sit there with high blood pressure waiting for MP to put in his 5th 7 tackle kick or play a short side when covered or have his last tackle kick blocked etc etc etc

                          EXACTLY

He also allowed Radley expression with his runs behind the ruck for right side attack

What most here don't understand is Cronks maturity in NOT getting in the way of the team,

Friend was a hog imo for his best game of the season

I watched the game again last night. It was clear that Cronk was directing the whole thing. Which is what he is supposed to do. He was very much responsible for that win.

Its probably one of only a handful of game sin recent years that I will re-watch since a few in 2013!

Funny you should say that. The only games I have on my hard drive are from 2013. I have deleted this one because the 24 ruined it for me.
