  • I hope we get Morris but I can't work out what Super-coach is up to. Maybe he is going to play halfback, what's Cronk doing next year besides having another baby?

Assuming the rumours of O’sullivan going to the Broncos are false..

Still not sure why we haven’t tied him up for next year and onwards.

      • Well, this piece of news will add further speculation
Just watched a 'coaches media' clip on the roosters' website and Trent said that the club has not signed Morris, but hinted talks with him

        source: https://www.nrl.com/news/2018/07/20/...-not-complete/

fletch did talk about this earlier just thought to put link for the video here

        • Mixed messages but odds seem to favour he has signed on for two years.

          • I wouldn't have a problem with Robbo only telling us as much as we need to know, but that's not normally the way he operates. Not wanting to suggest that social media isn't the ants pants, but ...

                • I still don’t get this signing. So Toups must be going to play whatever is called second grade next year.

                  • I would love to know the rationale for signing 2, 30+ year old wingers ...because on the face of it, this just doesn't make sense ??
I have no problem with signing either for 2 years ...but both ??

My guess is that our focus is on defence.

We already have the best 2 attacking outside backs in the game (if Mals merit list is anything to go by, Teddy and Latrell will be wearing green and gold for the next test).

We have many $350k to spend on a winger. This COULD be enough for an untested, young, athletic winger with questionable defence. Or... you could get a guy who has played for NSW/Australia and is known as one of the most solid, professional defensive wingers out there. Although his either is the one better known for his defence to be fair!

Why you would sign Hall and Morris? No idea. Depth? One will play for our yet to be announced reserve-grade team? Manu is on the outer (would seem odd)? Guessing we are replacing Fargo and Robinson though (on the same money we have allocated to them). Much better deal than upgrading Fargo to a $3 million contract or something.

You might find that Hall (like Burgess) just wants to come over as a pommie backpacker, play a few NRL games, earn a few bucks and drink some beers. Not a bad holiday for you to earn $250k to come over, train with a park footy side, get smashed at Wyong Leagues (with zero media scrutiny) and full-in for a couple of NRL games. Who wouldn’t do it!!! Basically a paid holiday where he will come back to Englandin higher demand having played NRL (—-ANY—- NRL, like 3 games where he has been an absolute flog is fiiine). For us, if he really is NRL grade then it will be a surprise that will put pressure on Toops, Manu, Ikuvalu (and Teddy + Latrell) to perform.

It is also great injury cover!!! No more farming bench wingers!!!! I mean imagine if in 2017 we had Brett Morris on our books as cover for Toops. Cough cough... coulda won a premiership!

                        • Could the thinking be that Hall wants to be given a shot at Centre? Big, strong and fast with solid defence!!

Toups is getting better each game after being out for a long period and deserves to be one winger. Morris is injury prone and is nearing the end of his career and will not come for less than $500k per season. However Hall could be a great signing and could be a huge revelation next season.

Morris will definitely come for less than 500k, because the dragons dont want him anymore and he wants to stay in Australia

                              • Morris wanting $500k a year roflmao. There is something called supply and demand and there isn’t much demand for an injury prone 30+ year old Winger. He will take what he can get as he will never see NRL type money once he retires.
                                ...
