The truth is and god I've been biting my lip due to everyone saying " another rumor" is that Todd has been told he will be cut, he has received offers from cronulla, souths and the cowboys. He does not want to play against us so is trying to get a unique deal happening. He hates Sydney but loves the roosters. Todd carney and his manager have asked the roosters to keep him on the books at a low rate so not to disrupt cap but keep him on while he goes to French rugby for a year. Brian smith and carney do not speak, he wants to come back after that one year. He thinks smith will be sacked as all the players can't stand him and he can come back like nothing Happened
This is from the horses mouth and I have said I don't agree. He thinks everyone still loves him. We don't need him. After tonight we showed what spirit was, he ll never understand that!!!

For all the shit, to let him go would be a monumental mistake. Let's see how Captain Moneybags goes against Melbourne in two weeks before we sack the 5/8th who got us to within a corrupt referees boss of winning the comp.

Not everyone loves him, but many do.

After what I saw tonight bar the last 10 minutes we do need him.
          It was the Sharks.

The players at the Eels couldn't stand Smith, he used to drive them mad with texts, Hadley said so.

          Spirit?
Todd understood it all last year:

          Watch no 6 after the try is scored;

          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfhUDRuZ0bA

          Country kids often hate Sydney.

Sounds like a great idea to me...keep him on the books at a low rate, he plays rugby for a year, Anasta retires, Smith is farewelled, and Todd returns at 5/8, having sorted out his life.
          All good.

If that's not possible he should become a "professional footballer", sign with Souths, or the Cowboys and play alongside JT, and bank the money for the time after his career is over.

My Sunday morning just got a whole lot brighter:

                http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/spo...-1226118790571

The Sunday Telegraph has been told the Sydney Roosters are in negotiations with French-based UK Super League club Les Catalans for Carney to play there next season.

The move is viewed by Roosters powerbrokers as a way for Carney to get rehabilitated away from the glare of Sydney's eastern suburbs.

It is understood powerful Roosters chairman Nick Politis has spoken to Les Catalans coach and former Roosters assistant Trent Robinson about helping Carney get his life back on track in the south of France.

If the stint was a success, then Carney could return to the Roosters in 2013.

Carney enjoys a close bond with Robinson, who was one of the Roosters' assistants during last year's grand final charge.

                  Is that a joke?

Going to France in order to get his life back on track?

                  Are they serious?

Yes, great idea. Send him to a country where he can get as fuucked up on the drink as he likes with no consequences, that'll help him.

That would probably be the best outcome.

It gives him another chance at redemption that won't effect the Roosters team if he fails. Being away from the media will also help.

It may work, it may not, but this way the Roosters can't really lose.

                        No joke.

He's already club and NRL 'ruined' on the drink...with his contract torn up and the NRL denying him another one...as the alternative.

What is certain is that he won't be playing for the Tricolours next season. Roosters coach Brian Smith and senior players Braith Anasta and Anthony Minichiello are understood to have lost faith in Carney after his latest broken promise about abstaining from alcohol.

They are still fuming about the situation, making the French defection even more appealing.

                        >>>>> >>>>> >>>>>

                        Smart move by the Board.
A change of scenery, the south of France is 'rural'...a change of club and people, but a familiar face in Trent.
French culture could be better for him that Eastern Suburbs and Kings Cross pubs and bars culture.

He'd still be playing footy, ready for a return to the Roosters if it all works out.
And if it doesn't work out the Board can say it tried everything, to the very last option available to it.

All the fans will accept that.

                          Exactly.

Either way the Board comes out smelling like roses. :-)
...and if it does work we have Todd 2010 back! which we might be needing in 2013.

'Caring and sharing', 'duty of care', 'not just tossing young people away without trying everything to help them'...all good in my eyes this plan.

                          Wisdom.

I will be very interested to see whether the earlier thread predicting this is on, or whether the Tele has been trawling forums for gossip again.

The whole thing sounds a bit silly to me.

I'll start with the caveat of "if this is true..."

You have got to be frigging kidding me.

I have read some stupid, idiotic things to do with the Roosters but that's got to be one of the most moronic I've seen.

Putting aside the fact that he'll be within traveling distance of the Côte d'Azur, the party capital of the world which would be like putting me in the Vivid video warehouse, I hope to Freddy we're not going to rely on Captain Not Courageous to be 5/8th next year.

Like I said, see what happens with Melbourne before anyone forgets 2009 and the spoon.

He'll be able to party over there no worries and hopefully return all partied out.

                                Good move.
