  • 2012 Signings

    As per title.

Looking at the current off-contract list(http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-l...contract-2011/), and taking into account the probability Carney will be sacked and the realistic cap-space that the Roosters have heading into the 2012 season, who would you like us to sign from the free-agent list?

Personally, with some money to play with under the cap, I'd sign:

Jamie Buhrer. Is a perfect fill for the role myles has been playing as a tight backrower with a high work-rate and allow Cordner a few more years to develop from the bench.Would probably cost a bit to wrench from Manly but if we offer him a starting spot and decent $$ theres no reason why this couldn't happen.

David Milne or Shannon Gallant. Both cheap, genuine fullbacks and high metre-type players and fill our need for a good fullback. Milne would offer more on kick returns but Gallant would cause havoc in set plays.

Geoff Daniella. Once again, a cheap acquistion and a genuine centre who is solid in defence, unlike Leulia, and can set up his outside man. Very underrated and wouldn't be asking for much if we offer him a centre spot.

    1. Milne/Gallant
    2. Perrett
    3. Daniella
    4. SKD
    5. Tagive
    6. Anasta
    7. Pearce
    8. Ryles
    9. Friend
    10. Kennedy
    11. Aubbo
    12. Guerra
    13. Buehrer

    14. Dumbrell/Mitchell
    15. Cordner
    16. JWH
    17. Masoe/Tasi

    18. Leulia
    19. FPN

    6. Shaun Johnson

    11. Scott Bolton

    That will do.

Hoffman and McGuire would be possibilities too.... In other words, no one for next year. Save for the year after - better players, more money, more idea where the club is going.

Cordner deserves a start over Buhrer and Bosden does too
Gallant/Milne are just as bad as Mini and that is saying something, no point replacing one crap player with another
Daniela also sucks, BJ is better than him but if we were to buy a centre id say Dean Whare

We beat the Dragons last week...why is half the team being sold off and replaced by players I've never heard of?

Looks like Carney's for the high jump...lunacy in my opinion.

So what happens next year if no6 Anasta gets injured?
I'll have to put up with another rookie making mistakes and losing us games while he gets experience.

I'm packing by bag now and getting ready to attend tonight's game...I want to see as many experienced and proper and fit first grade players in the team as possible...it's our only chance of winning games.

As was mentioned last night by the ch9 commentators...the teams warm up for far too long and use up too much energy....and also risk injury.

When is a roof going to built over the SFS...or at least some tarps on ropes so the fans don't get soaked?

              Buehrer will not leave manly
Milne a cheap alternative for fullback. Gallant is crap.
              Daniella, are you serious?

Oldfield/Johnson/Hoffman/Roberts would be the young guys that should be on our radar.
We have a good crop of potential first graders in the 20's, most are still a couple of years away. Would prefer to develop our own before we pay overs to get other teams talent to our club. POS has done well recruiting the juniors. Just the recent first grade signings are questionable.

                      Whats doing champ!

I don't think we need Buhrer. Cordner at lock, Guerra or FPN on the bench.

A lot depends on Carney IMO.

If Carney stays and Guerra stays:

                      6. Carney (...) 11. Anasta (...) 15. Guerra

                      Symonds and Nuuausala missing out.

If Carney stays and Guerra goes:

                      6. Carney (...) 11. Anasta (...) 15. Nuuausala

                      Symonds missing out.

If Carney goes and Guerra stays:

                      6. Anasta (...) 11. Guerra (...) 15. Nuuausala

                      Symonds missing out.

If Carney goes and Guerra goes:

                      6. Anasta (...) 11. Symonds (...) 15. Nuuausala

                      No-one missing out.

Rest of the team should stay as is:

                      1. Minichiello
                      2. Perrett
                      3. Kenny-Dowall
                      4. Leilua/Moga/Blair
                      5. Tagive/Moga/Blair
                      6.
                      7. Pearce
                      8. Kennedy
                      9. Friend
                      10. Ryles
                      11.
                      12. Aubusson
                      13. Cordner

                      14. Mitchell
                      15.
                      16. Hargreaves
                      17. Masoe/Tasi

Shannon McDonell from the Knights is a good, underrated player. Would make a good fullback / wing back-up (starter?).

Shannon played very well in both games against us this year.

I think we are set in the forwards. Loads of backrowers (if Carney goes, Guerra should stay in the backrow, but if Carney stays, we have Braith to play in the backrow), plenty of props, and a few decent rakes too.

Our issue is depth in the halves and backline. We should definitely set up to make a play for a dynamic fullback post-Minichiello. But we definitely need to pick up a few outside backs for depth.

Jesus Christ, 'The Count' isn't even off contract and some of you want to replace him with a less of a player. F**k, he's been one of our most consistently 'good' players this year, he might be passed his best but certainly not out. Show a little respect!!
This will no doubt piss a few of you off but I say I don't care how but get Greg bird in the squad.

Doesn't sound that silly! I like Mini, Played Origin and was great in game 2 unfortunately he was sick in game 3 and was judged on that..
