SOMETIMES, the importance of a football club transcends wins and losses and its occasional errant players.
It is certainly that way for Glenn Sargood and his young family as he comes to terms with motor neurone disease.
Glenn, 36, is a third-generation Roosters supporter, and his six-year-old son Tom makes it four.
A week before the Roosters' win over the Wests Tigers in last year's semi-finals, he was delivered the shocking news of what he was up against.
"After we picked ourselves up off the floor, the motto for me and my family is that we are going to have as much fun as possible," Glenn said. "We are going to love life and have as many great memories for the kids as possible."
Since last year, the Roosters have been doing just that and on Wednesday afternoon the club surprised the Sargood family when Sam Perrett and Willie Mataka knocked on the door of their home in the Southern Highlands

A mark of the bloke that Perrett is was discovered later when it was revealed that he had taken the moon boot off a troublesome foot because he did not want it to be the topic of discussion.
"The look on Glenn's face was priceless," said Glenn's wife, Rachel, pictured above with the boys and daughters, Alana, 9, and Emily, 7.
The Roosters are doing all they can to raise funds for the Sargoods, and the club is holding a special benefit night at Easts Leagues Club this Thursday evening.
Because of the short life expectancy of those diagnosed with motor neurone disease, it is also being dubbed Glenn's 40th. The night will be hosted by broadcaster Tim Webster, with Ray Hadley auctioneering memorabilia. Easts legends Arthur Beetson and John Peard will also be speaking on the night.
